    Has anyone tried installing Linux on a system with ATI GPUs???

    I tried it, and it will work, but not with every release candidate.

    For example (yes i know, it's quite the noob Linux version :) ) Ubuntu 9.10 does not work with my ATI cards due to driver problems but Ubuntu 8.04.3 works flawlessly.

    ubuntu 8.04 worked until i did some update now i formated the whole drive and it don't even wan to reinstal

    9.10 fail at installing

    Hmmm, I'm getting my 280s replaced to 4870s and I already have ubuntu 9.10 installed. Maybe I just uninstall the driver, replace the cards and try it without re-installing?...

    Never hurts to try...but google 9.10 ubuntu ATI. Many users have graphical problems...black screen of death :(.

    the problem seem even more present in crossfire i suspect ati trying to implement crossfire
