You'll be the only person getting yours in Australia till March...

Apparently Australia has a shortage on RGB screens and no one else will get one till mid March. So your a lucky guy...I'm hoping this is Invalid..for my own sake cause i wont be waiting till March.. (Unless i get a free upgrade)

Please use the method Joker described as it seems to surface the issue very fast.

Partly I think they don't offer lower end in order to make the cost of buying lots of high end cards more profitable and cheaper to sell, and...

from a marketing standpoint, it would be pretty sad to see a 17" latest model Alienware with crappy frame rates (relatively speaking) with a 260m...

The decked out m17x reminds me of buying a Ferrari again... who would want one with all the same internals but looked like a Ford Taurus... kind of takes away from the purpose of the system in the first place, a mean game machine that is in your face with style and doesn't look like one of the Clevo or Falcon lunchboxes :D

Thank you, that is good news. That means my system is in perfect condition and hopefully it will stay that way.

Now we have to wait for the first 920 examination reports...

well qx9300 has less power consumption than 820 & 920 so this typical power brick is more than enough for R1 - unlike R2
like BatBoy i havent any issues with my 280 and basic nvidia chipset - i'm not complaining about dpc but i haven't any stutter, audio cracklings and other "very bad things" :D that's why i'm happy now

    just my 2cents :p

you have to run furmark multi gpu and prime 95 to stress your system is the only way to find out if you have the flickering

I notice that those not experiencing flickering tend to have 1066 memory. Wonder whether that is just a coincidence.

But Drake did have the 920 CPU, whereas the ones who have 820s and possible issues have the 1333 RAM and ones who seem to not have issues with the 820s have the 1066.

Just looking at all combinations is all.

I just notice one thing, if I unplug the power cord while using the computer, it freezes and do not start until I completly remove the battery and start without the battery...

My flickering is by far the worst, comparing the videos I'm seeing.
Do you guys think that we might have malfunctioning batteries?

This the ATI driver issue not related to the flickering. We have this in R1 too with ATIs.

BTW, another driver issue is the rapid flickering in Crysis and some other games.

Was running some tests last night, and decided to run 3Dmark 06. one thing noticed was the high pitch whine from the gpus, which is much louder than it was with my w90. (actually the w90 whine was coming from both the cards and the psu) anyway. moving the mouse while the bench was running altered the sound of the whine coming from the cards. unplugging the mouse reduced the whine. anyone try running the benches without an external keyboard and mouse?

Who ever is having the issue, uninstall your accelerometer and see if it's any better.

I feel like we should start a thread with people listing their config and if they have flickering or not, then it might make it easier to see which components increase the chances for flickering. The thing I don't get is why AW only took one system to be examined, wouldn't it make more sense to try to get 3-4 different configurations with the flickering to know the issue for sure? I mean who knows maybe the thing that causes flickering on the 920xm is different from what causes flickering on the 820? That would be scary bad QC/QA work from AW, but you never know.

damn, i wish i had one so i could help u out. i think i'm just gonna order one with a 920xm and if there is a fix i'll keep it. and if there isn't but joker or you find a temp fix like the one for the m15x then i'll probably keep it.

if not i'll do what i'm thinking of doing, getting an area 51 desktop with 1 5970 and an m11x.

FWIW, I am unsure why but the flickering stopped after I reloaded the drivers and turned the Crossfire off and on. Now it works with only and *occasional* slight flicker, which might just be normal for Crossfire.

Maybe they are testing it before putting it online? With all these driver issues going on you guys don't want another crash course BIOS version or do you? And testing takes time and is thus also a costly process!

As long as the end product is fine, take the extra week it needs!

I agree. If you already know it will work (by Joker's experience) why not just give the guys the time to test it out. You already know it is what you are expecting, so it's well worth it.

It would be so much different if you were waiting for a fix like the R1 fellows.
