I need a new computer. Badly.

The one i have is about 5-6 years old and is on its last dying processing.
Im actually typing on it now, its great for internet use... and thats it.
The mobo fan is dying, I had to replace the power supply. yada yada.
I need a regular fan to keep it from heating up and slowing down!!!

    Anyways.

I need a new computer, to perform different tasks. Such as well. School work. Some Music programs (FL 9, acid pro, etc). Car tuning programs. And games! such as World of Warcraft and MW2 and Command and conquer. even watch a couple movies here and there.

I've always set my eye on Alienware, ever since i was little i always wanted one.
So im leaning toward this brand a lot.

Heres the two laptops I configured.

    M11x

    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium (64-bit)
    Intel® Core™ i7 640UM (4M Cache, 1.2 GHZ with 2.266 GHz Max Turbo Frequency) - Overclockable
    8GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 800MHz
    500GB SATAII 7,200RPM
Dell External 12.7 Tray Super Multi Drive
    No Internal WWAN Antenna Installed
    $1,563.99

    M15x

    Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium, 64bit, English
    Intel® Core™ i7 740QM Quad Core Processor, 1.73GHz (2.93GHz Turbo Mode, 6M Cache
    1GB GDDR5 ATI Radeon™ Mobility HD 5850
    15.6-inch WideFHD 1920x1080 (1080p) WLED
    6GB Memory (1x 2GB, 1x 4GB DDR3)
    500GB SATAII 7,200RPM
    Slot-Load Dual Layer DVD Burner (DVD+-RW, CD-RW)
    Primary - 9-cell (85Watt) Lithium-Ion Battery
Intel WiFi Link 5300 802.11AGN Half Mini Card
    $1,844.00

The weight of m15x does not bother me.

Now.. Do i really need to upgrade the memory? or is 4gigs is enough for either computer?
Will the m11x perform these tasks without much difficulty?
The size of the M11x might bother me...
Battery life is somewhat of a concern but it wont bother me much.

Need to know soon! the discounts they are offering for the m15x GPU and the extra $175 off ends on the 28th of this month!!

Well to state the obvious, 4gb is enough on both systems, save your money to get a SSD.
The m11x wont have any problem doing everything youare planning to do, but the M15x is much more powerful on both cpu and gpu side.
If weight and size is not an issue than the M15x will fit your needs perfectly and its build quality is much better!
If you dont mind buying used there are great deals in NBR's marketplace!

Yeah if you don't mind the weight, and especially if you won't be carrying it around, m15x is a far better choice.

On the other hand if you travel frequently and plan to carry it with you, m11x is obviously better.

If size is a issue dont go with m11x. I returned mine due to that fact alone. Great system but not as powerful or featured as m15x.

Get m15x then keep on eye on the outlet for a m11x for travel. Thats my goal atleast!

I believe I am speaking for the greater of this subforum when I ask... What the *poop* is Qosmio? :D

No idea what the performance of GTX 460M is, but m15x+5850 are in that price range too. For $100-$200 more you can already get m17x...

I read the GTX 460m is a very good GPU

and after taxes for the m15x to the specs i wanted it would of costed me 1800.00 at the end.

I saved a good chunk of change =D
