    Help! Trying to connect external monitor to M17x

    So, I have this great Dell 24" monitor that I have plugged into the HDMI port of the Alienware laptop. Although 2 monitors seem to be showing up in the devices, for the life of me I can't get the laptop to recognize the second monitor so I can switch the display over. I'm using the "Connect to external display" function in the personalize section of Vista, but no luck. Any suggestions?
