Could provide more details? What do you mean by "fails"? Becomes less intense? Stops working at all?

Did you put in the recovery disk and install from there? Also what BIOS are you running? Restart your laptop and it should say when the BIOS posts. If it states A05 then it's time you get on the phone with Dell Tech support and have them dispatch a tech with a new motherboard as you fried the AlienFX controller. It's a known issue. CC from the recovery disk has some serious bugs when installed with the A05 BIOS. Your better off downloading all drivers and updates from the dell support/drivers website for your computer and putting them on a thumb drive. Do yourself a favor and throw that resource disk in the trash so you don't make the same mistake. Sorry about your luck. :(

I dont get it if a new Bios update is frying chipsets..why isnt it pulled from the website..or have a newer version of CC to combat the problem..replacing these mboards must be costing dell a bomb!

I have lived through this issue too.

You will need BOTH the Mother Board and Blue-tooth Card replaced IF the Command Center was loaded from the supplied Alienware Resources Disk. Call Support and expect several hours on line, THEY must reload everything and then make the call to hardware support. Hopefully you live near a large city (in 15 miles from Chicago) and I got knowledgeable help from Unisys.

I HAVE TRIED SEVERAL TECH SUPPORT NUMBERS AND THE ABSOLUTE BEST ONE IS 866 243 9297,. Yes it's not in the US, and I don't work for or have any investment in Dell.

YOU must get all the tech support you can, before the 21 days from invoice expires. YOU are entitled to a replacement IF you jump through the hoops. I DID. I have lived through this just days ago !!

CANT call through the computer they are doing maintenance on,
It needs several reboots during reload.

To clarify, this problem is only on the M15x, right?

lq; this is a confirmed issue on M15x running A05 bios, WHEN the Command Center (CC) is loaded from the supplied Resources Disk. IF CC is loaded from support.dell ( after a successful reload of windows and chipset drivers ) then the FX board seems to be safe. I suffered this fate a little more than a week ago and had both my (fried) mobo and blue-tooth boards replaced. I cant confirm its ONLY a M15X, I can confirm it WILL happen on the M15x. -hubs-
