Hi guys i receved yesterday from a friend his new M15x, since i had the old one i could give him some pointers and help him install the new windows 7. so i got everything to work but the stealh mode while on battery doesnt work, it gives me this messege when i try "Stealh mode not support on battery". whats the point of having stealth if it doen´t work on stealh mode, on my old m15x i use it all the time while on battery...

I am not sure. I am sure someone with some good experience will post but have you attempted to contact Dell about this? Also maybe try putting on stealth mode while plugged in and see what happens?

Called support about the same issue last night. He told me...the reason you cannot go into Stealth mode is because the processor is set up to automatically cut its ability in half when on battery. So it will not let the stealth mode work since it is already cut the processors power in half. He had me download CPUID-CPU to show how it worked. With the AC adaptor plugged in…and stealth mode off…the processor multiplier is close to 20. When you turn on Stealth mode…it puts the multiplier to half that…8 or something. So he had me keep the AC adapter plugged in and turn stealth mode off…it showed the multiplier at 20+/-….then had me unplug the AC. It made the multiplier the same as it was on Stealth mode…so the processor automatically puts itself in the stealth mode state when the AC adapter is unplugged. Or that is what I was told

so my second question is....once in battery can you put it on performance mode and then swtich to steatlh?
-
Not from what he was telling me. I kept mine on performance mode when I unplugged the AC...and it still cut the processor automatically. The prob. is a way...but it would be above my head.

i would be rather pissed if i unplugged my M15x and had it in performance for a bit longer then wanted to put it in stealth and it wouldn't let me. Doesnt add up

It is strange....I've only had mine for about 3 days. So there may be a setting I haven't found.

lots on this on the owner's thread, early on when the first few guys got their M15s -- stealth only works when plugged in, it is designed for air travel use only. Again, power is saved automatically when on battery power as the OP described. Not a fault, but a designed feature (or not), depending on how you view it.
