    Hey guys If I order an m17x r-2 with the Intel® Core™ i5 520M 2.4GHz (2.93GHz Turbo Mode, 3MB Cache).

Could I then buy an Intel® Core™ i7 920XM 2.0GHz (3.2GHz Turbo Mode, 8MB Cache) on ebay then replace it with the i5?

If so how would warrenty work out would I have to replace the 920xm with the 520m everytime I sent it in for something?

    Thanks guys

Unless they've changed the rules about warranty, and unless the i5 uses a different socket to i7 which I don't think they do, then you'll be fine.

You'll probably have to place the old processor back in it though to send it in for warranty.

You should be able to upgrade it and the i7 will not be under the system's warranty and you may have to swap back in the i5 for repairs. The only other thing to watch is that my first R2 order had a i 5 540M and it came with a 150w Power Supply. My new order is now coming with a i7 720QM and it's coming with the 240w supply.

Both my i5 and i7 orders were with a single ATI card. So you most likely will have to get the 240w power supply as well unless your i5 order comes with one as I am sure you'll get one if you do get 2 ATI cards.
