hi, im new to the whole upgrading my BIOS and stuff so just 1 question
i enter to my hive to download the latest BIOS but i dont know which file to get, what is the names or where is it found
any help on that would be greatley apreciated
BTW i have an m15x with the xV32 or something like that BIOS
-
okay, you'll need to search for "x34 BIOS" (or similar) in MyHive. download it. then, insert a CD into your drive, open your burn program (presumably Nero), and burn the downloaded file as an image. very important, as an image. then, reboot your computer, and right at the beginning, hit F12 to access the boot options, and choose the optical drive as device to boot from. after that, it should run automatically and update your BIOS to x34. after that, enjoy!
hope that helped.
EDITED to reflect exiled's very good point. -
Yep that's it
i uploaded it and saw Wizzo helped you out already (editing same time)

when you reboot after you have your cd in i recommend pressing f12 and then a menu comes up to select a device to boot from. just select the cd. it is much easier than going into the bios and selecting the cd drive as the primary boot device.

maybe a stupid question, but why cant you do the update from a usb flash drive or some such thingy....
-

=D -

Don't know if it supports Bios update trough USB (it depends on your Bios version )
Some do, Some not -
If it will recognize the BIOS from the USB drive then it will work the same as it does from a DVD.

is it not just a diffierent data form factor? -

This should work.. (regarding form factor ) -
thanks for the link Vesalio. have a rep.
-
wow - awesome how to - but can you explain the /P /B /C things?
i read it clears and such, but if i missed it, he did not explain what each letter does and why he listed his command as he did....
again, imma bit newish to this....so be gentle
ditto to what whizzo said... -
P > program
B > boot
C > clear
not sure though -
two similar guesses then...works for me...
-
P > program
B > boot
C > clear
Yes thats it
Thanks Wizzo and Ryujin for those reps
