    Hello Guys

2 days ago, i left my Computer running while i was studying, suddenly the computer shut down, i dunno what happened,

the next day, i turned on my computer everything boots, but when i'm up to gaming, the Game runs for several minuites depending on how intense it is, then the FPS is cut by 85%, afterwards i get a sudden shutdown, and thats with SLI disabled,

so is it a faulty GPU we are looking at here? is there a way to replace it with the 2nd GPU and make things work?

Fast replies appreciated, because i cant study with such stress :('

EDIT: and btw.. temps are normal and the GPU is functioning with no gaming, and just to let you know, i Formatted my PC after this problem, and installed Vista, still the same problem

You could try to take out your Slave GPU and see if the computer works fine after that. If it does then it is just the slave GPU.

We apologize for this inconvenience...As per your description, it seems gpu related but we would like to confirm this. This happens when gaming only? if so, Have you ran 3dMark? This will stress the video card and if shutdown happens, then it could be the video card. See if you are able to run the game with just a single card (Parent GPU). Please let us know as soon as possible.

    Thank you.

@Armando, yes it only happens when gaming, i stressed with Furmark, and i got a restart, if i try to enable SLI, i get a black screen, if i play games with power saver mode, i can play with no shutdowns, so i'm starting to think that the power supply isnt efficient anymore

@levenly, only power off is i'm getting, a total shutdown

@Stone, Can the lappy work with only the 2nd GPU? if so thats awesome

A sudden drop in frames and/or bluescreens and I would think it's the GPU. A sudden shutdown sounds like there's something wrong with the cpu and the system is trying to save itself. Have you checked the temperature of your cpu and not just your gpus?

If you want to test out the slave card swap it out into the parent slot imo, that wa you can figure out which card went wrong (Sounds exactly like a GPU went poof)

CPU and GPU's are below 50c, and i think its the parent card, because i'm not using SLI now

i'm not sure you can swap daughter cards, but i wouldn't really know anything about it. i do know the parent card has a P on it and the daughter card has a D on it, but i don't know if you can swap cards and run it like that.

i don't know if the laptop can run with the second gpu installed only. i think you would have to switch connector spots. the two cards have two different VBIOS's so i'm not sure what that really entails.

do you have your ram timings changed when it blanks out?

my OC setup is just when doing 3dmark06, when daily gaming, i use the stock setup, i stressed the CPU with Orthos prime, CPU is fine, now i'm thinking of a way to disable the first card and make the 2nd card in charge of display
