Hinge broke again

seriously...

a little history, I bought this unit in February, I have had nothing but problems with this thing. I started having problems within a week of receiving this unit.

The hinge already broke once, AW said it would take them a week to fix it and send it back, but it arrived more than 5 weeks late. I received it on Nov 14, 08. After receiving it, 2 weeks later the fan got really loud. I mean really really loud (both in stealth mode and normal mode). then on December 24th, I opened the lid, and some white stuff fell out, I immediately knew it was. Same white stuff had fallen out when the hinge broke the first time.

I want my in refund now. this is ridiculous. I tried calling support today. I was on the phone for at least 45 mins and it kept saying that reps are busy, please stay on the line.

I don't deserve this, doesn't seem like a fair trade. I give AW $3500, and they give me a poor quality laptop.

 

Well let's hope AW stands up and gives you full refund or replaces the item with another lappy! Something else than m15x, it's jinxed model.

 

the least they could do is give me refund. I don't want another laptop from this idiot company. I'm done with Alienware

Seriously though, you shouldn't give up on Alienware. I mean the hinge problem has been constant with a lot of m15x users.

YOu should get a refund and try an M17, it is a beast and I haven't seen any major problems.

 

If you dont get a refund I would suggest calling a lawyer, and warn alienware about it too.

 

There's some white stuff on the back of my repaired m15x's hinges too that I hadn't noticed until today as you can't see it when the lid is open.


And it looks like my hinge is beginning to crack again too.

 

hm, that's interesting. Maybe it's because the Ripley? Because my hinge is fine so far....

 

Called alienware today.
They did not want to give me a refund. They said that they would only repair it. The problem is that they had repaired it once and it broke again. I then asked to speak to a supervisor, she said the same thing. Then I said I would call my lawyer and proceed from their, then she said she would give me a call back tomorrow, but there wont be much she can do.

I recorded the conversation, in case I need to use it for my case. I did not let them know about the recording because in Ontario only one person needs to be aware of the recording.

I'm not taking any chances this time. Last time they screwed me over.

yup if I get my refund. Which I'm sure I will through any means necessary.

congratulations on being the first to have your hinge break twice.

 

I guess 5 weeks wasn't enough for them to do the job properly.

 

mine went back for a new motherboard after the first 19 days of one balls up after another. returned to me within 8 days but i got someone elses second hand chassis with their name plate on so you can guess i cancelled there and then.

changed sides and am so happy and have never looked back since.

 

All I can say is wow, I had thought about it but more and more stories like this....glad I stayed away from the AW
