I just did it. Some quick pics since mine is still open this minute.

    Remove screws in red:

Flip the laptop back over, and use force to pry the center control panel off. just get it half an inch off, there is that white membrane cable in the middle that you will be #$%@ if you rip it.

Lots. Of. Pressure. I used a small flathead wrapped in a lint free glasses cleaner cloth to pry it off. You need a plastic scribe to do it without marring the plastic. (basically, a plastic flathead screwdriver)

The cover loose and ready to be removed, but don't yank it! There is one more cable to remove.

Use a small flathead to push both sides of the tabs in the direction of the arrow to release the ribbon cable.

I just circled the screw holes of the screws you've already removed. Just showing you where they go and why they were removed.

Browse through this thread about the hinge issue of the area 51 m15x.

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=423760&highlight=m15x+hinge

Some users have posted their DIY fixes with a step by step guide on how to do it.

I just want to reiterate that replacing the top panel would not remedy the problem. Read through that thread before going ahead with your Ebay purchase
