    Horrible fps on battery.

    So does the ac power have to be plugged in to play a game? i normaly get 150+ fps on counter strike source, but on the battery, only 20-30. The gtx 260 is on, im sure of that.

    Yeah this is normal, power save modes cut down your gpu/cpu speed.

    You maybe able to override it with power settings and powermiser and stuff but watch your battery die in 20 minutes or less as a result.

    Oh, i didn't noticed what power setting it went into automatically with the power unplugged. Alright thanks for clearing that up.

    Even if you change the power setting it won't help much. Gaming on a battery is sadly pretty much a no-no. Even on high performance on my M17, when on battery, Crysis is completely unplayable even on low. Presumably I'd have to put the resolution on low as well as the graphics to minimum to even play it on battery. Other evidence is half the frame rate in Lord of the Rings Online.

    This is due to the sheer amount of power that the components draw. If you really went all out on the battery as said above...in the M17x? I think it wouldn't even last 20 minutes, you'd be looking at more like 10 minutes.
