I sent my m15x in to get the back panel replaced because it was breaking and also my keyboard's lighting wasn't working. They received it last Friday, but they stillcan't give me an estimate as to when it shuold be done.

Can anyone that has had theirs replaced as well give me the time it took them to replace yours? Thank you.

i think the longest has been 10 weeks and counting. the usual seems to be two or three weeks, but some guys have gotten theirs back within a week.

Wow, 2or 3 weeks? Is that including shipping? That sucks if it is gonna take that long. I can replace the LCD panel and keyboard in 2 hours. Why do they take so long?

Well Of course I am going to add my two cents here lol.

WozniakMac it can take a really long time. It is beyond me how they can build a new one in 3 days, yet when it goes in for repair they say they have no parts and have no ETA for parts. It is really sad that their customer support for repairs is so horrible, when the laptop is such a performer.

Good luck, but so far I have averaged about 9 weeks per repair. Stay on top of them and tell them you need your system, they may at least send it back to you expedited rather than ground delivery. Also keep track of how long you have not had the computer and ask them to extend your warranty an additional amount to make up for the time you have not had the use of your system. They seem to be fairly co-operative in that regard.

    Good luck

For those of you sending a system in follow their instructions very closely. REMOVE all accessories before sending it in. I had added extra memory that I forgot to take out. Guess what? I'm not getting it back :(

And of course BACK UP !!! I use Drive IMAGE xml and back up the entire Hard drive to a portable and then reboot using UltimateCD when I get my system back and restore, becausee they have both times completely wiped the hard drive with a new install to speed up trouble shooting which I can understand.

Wow, if it is gonna take more than 2 weeks, I will buy another keyboard and panel and install it myself. Jeez, you think that spending 3300 on a system would require them to speed up the repair process.

    I know you'd think!
Perhaps with Dell taking over production they will improve the supply chain for spare parts to the technician depots where they do the repairs.

This is why I haven't shipped them my broken out of the box m15x. The best I've been offered is two-day shipping for their oversight. AW was unwilling to give guarantees regarding the time the repair would take, but Roswell did at one point say, "Now's not a good time to send it in."

Is there ever a good time? --rhetorical, excuse my frustration.

It took about 3 weeks to get my system back. My hinge broke (about a week after I received it) and Roswell Kevin took care of my problem. It might have taken longer if I didn't contact Roswell...so I recommend them as well. Kevin is a very nice guy. I hope you get yours back soon.

It took just over a month to get mine back, but they replaced all my panels, my video card and gpu fan and my keyboard! My m15x is practically brand new now.

Just for clarification as I have an Alienware Desktop and an M15x on the way. I haven't used the support in over 2 years. Who is Roswell and how do they relate to Alienware?

They're some kinda unencumbered arm of AW customer service that is motivated to care about our satisfaction.

There should be a sticky waiting for the post that concisely defines Roswell's responsibilities, and is updated with contact info for all the AW folks. Sounds like a job for Kevin and Armando.
