Well as most people know I acquired my 4850's through AW by mistake so now have a pair of 3870's spare. Just wondering how much I should ask for a pair of these if anyone has any ideas. Dont have a crossfire cable but im thinking it wont be too hard to get one.

Someone on Ebay is selling them for $250 a piece which I think is reasonable.

yep id say thats about right... 150 uk pounds bud per card.

only thing i noticed they never said if its master or slave.

which i think you should do . try to sell em as one whole kit if not one of em is gonna have to be flashed i think.

how much better are the 4850s marshall mate!

id be looking for 300 pounds for the pair...... supply and demand id get em on fleabay before we all get our 4850s becuase that will lower the price.

I think that M9750 owners would definetely find £300/$400 fairly reasonable for the pair.

Actually, the guy on ebay right now has pictures of them and he's distinctly selling a slave card as well as a master seperately.

Hey, I'll buy a crossfire cable from you if you can order it for me please! =)

Yeah I think £300 is a fair price. I will sell them as a pair. Master and slave.

I'd get a crossfire cable to sell with them if you can. Without it, the cards obviously won't work together and I doubt it's that easy to buy one elsewhere...I'd ask for a spare or something, or say you've got a faulty cable/ripped cable.

I completely agree cool but its not a simple case of someone being able to just buy 3870's or 4850's unless they own the relevant laptop as we all know.
Yeah I will get another cable from AW and sell the lot as a set.

I have a single 3870 and will be getting another, but there's no way i would pay £150, considering the price of the 4850's.

depends if you have m17 then you would probably go down the 4850 route if you can, but m9750s owners would i think pay 300 for the cards,

just because we might be able to get the 4850s for 322 dosent mean the 3870s are not worth the 300 mark especially when the only people who (may) be able to get these cards is exisiting alienware owners. :)

to be honest if we never knew how much we can supposidly get the 4850s for . if you saw them on ebay for £450 for the pair would you not buy em.

    same applies to the 3870.

people can't be complaining and comparing the price of 4850's to 3870's.....if you are in the market for 3870's, you have no means of getting the 4850's and never will (I see NO M17 owners getting these just to sell them)

Just sucks to be you then and you have to settle for what you can get, in this case, 3870's

That is like me calling Dell and complaining because Boeing employees get 16% off and I only get 7% off with EPP. I should be grateful that I am getting anything at all as a discount vs the original price.

Just like whoever is buying the 3870's should be grateful they are getting any upgrade at all over the old cards they currently have, and not try to complain that they are paying nearly what 4850's cost even though they will never get the 4850's

Because you can sell the cards at "black market" prices, doesnt necessarily means that someone is going to buy them. Not to mention that a lot of people will have spare 3870's (m17 owners that is) so the price will drop just from trying to sell our cards by ourselves.

The ONLY reason someone would actually buy the 3870's for £300 is that a) doesnt care about money and b) its impossible to get them from anywhere else.

Now assuming there are going to be lots of 3870's pairs going around (NBR members are not the only people with m17's) the competition will be huge.

And lastly, lets not forget that those cards are second hand. Its like saying people would actually pay £450+ for a new pair :p You get my point.

    Still,

    beggars can't be choosers ;)

And if you are trying to buy 3870's you fall into the Beggars category

    i see your point bud,

but also i see the supply and demand thats why i said to marshall get em on ebay sooner rather than later so as to maximise his profit out of the cards.

the point is they are almost impossible to get them any where else and these cards offer a whole new GPU for laptop that would otherwise need to be replaced ;)

    the price is fair

the goods are going to be very hard to come by :)

well, not exactly... the buyers can haggle prices down - we're not in need of gaining money back from a just recent purchase.

    the consumer determines the value.

however, i would suggest at starting at $350. the people you're looking at selling your cards to obviously have some sort of money if they're purchasing high end gaming laptops, not to mention, ones that were 2-3 years old. people shelled out $2500+ easily for my notebook when it was new, so i'm sure most people are willing to start at a high price, but fair price.

if you want to get quick money, sell them at $299, and you'll most likely get buyers.

considering that the m9750 folks like myself haven't really seen too much support in the m9750 division combining the notebook and 3870's, it really makes many skeptical even though we obviously want better GPU's.

what you need to determine is what price our skeptical mindset overlaps with value of a card.

i've seen single cards on Ebay for 350 bucks, and they go, however, this was prior to the 4850's being released. given the market conditions are near opening for the 3870's (because many users now have the ability to upgrade) and that the M17x is only ~$1700 base price, your buyers are going to be harder to come by for staggering high prices for these cards.

$300 is a fair price, but again, you may yourself be able to weasel it up to $350-$500 for the pair, depending on what person you're selling too. just know, in a little while you're not going to be in very high control of the prices for the 3870's.

When I had my whitebook, I paid $300 just for a second GPU. I did this because they were IMPOSSIBLE to get a hold of. This will still be the case, i do not think you will see as many 3870's on ebay as you predict. If i was selling a pair, I'd be asking probably$450-500.

And something almost no one has mentioned yet...selling a pair with out the bridge cable is pointless, so whoever can bundle the cable in as well is who will really get the buyers.

I'd say this is a definite sign that the upgrade path is coming to those who weren't lucky enough to recieve them by accident. If they're happy to let you keep the cards that really does suggest to me that they're gonna start selling them soon.

Yeah I think your right on that one. Funny thing is that everyone thought all the 9750 owners would be screaming out ofr the 3870's. Well I have not had one snifter of interest for the pair on here or ebay. Weird im thinking.

i wouldnt be to botherd marshall, you need to let the news travell down the wires,

as i think not alot of people know that you can now get a 3870 pair of graphics cards of ebay of all places ( just think bud up till last week or so you couldnt get hold of a single card) from nowhere nito....

just think that mxm site which is i think a rip off hed be sick as you think your prices are high check out what hes wanting for cards that are years old.

    8400gs is like 170 euros
