How accurate is the estimated delivery?

My m11x is in the "delivery preparation" stage according to my order info on dell.com

my estimated delivery date is the 21st. I also have standard shipping. So how likely is it that i will be getting my laptop on the delivery date. Im in San Jose, CA if that helps.

 

well i ordered 3 laptops. Estimated delivery date usually changes.

 

mine arrived 12 days early from what the sales rep told me i had 7 day shipping

 

Mine is set to arrive tomorrow or the day after that.
EDD was 21st. So its 2-3 days accurate.

 

so hopefully i get it my the 24th or 25th

 

i was supposed to get mine july 26, i got mine yesterday

the 13th, sorry forgot to mention it updated to july 20th..july 26 was the first one..but still i got it yesteday

 

mines shipped on 7/15 got it 7/16. it said i would get it at 3pm pst but i got it at 12 16 =]

 

Mine arrived almost a week early!



Although I should note, I ordered it online, had to verify the payment with a customer service rep, and when I did I asked him if he could do anything about the shipping and he moved it up a week. And then the unit arrived a week ahead of that!

It should be pretty accurate.

 

I ordered mine on May13, my EDD was on June 2. It shipped the 28 of May to my father's friend company. They sent it to me on the first days of june and I got it here in Mexico the 7-9 (I dont really remember) of June.
In other words, I got it almost a week before my EDD.

 

Shipped this morning and the estimated delivery is still the 21st

only time will tell

I have ordered 9 laptops and one desktop from Dell/Alienware since 2004 and every single one of them has arrived earlier than the estimated date to receive. Usually by a week or more

 

I got it right on the EDD

 

i just realized on when i check the tracking number on fedex at the bottom were it has the date and time it says its the 16th

could this mean the info is 3 days behind

 

It took dell 2 months to make and deliver my M17xr2...

 

Nevermind it finally updated and its in los angeles now so it just might get to me tomorrow

 

It's called "managing expectations". Underpromise and overdeliver. People are always impressed when something arrives earlier than expected, but usually frustrated if it's late. Dell likely gives the "worst case scenario" date when they initially set up the order. That said, I have an M11x-R2 on the way and I'm hoping that it gets to me sooner than the EDD of August 2nd.

My M15x came a week early.

 

Ordered my m15x July 10th , estimated time was august 1. Just got tracking number and it's going to be here tomorrow July 21st and that was with standard shipping.

 

well mine was supposed to ship out on the 28th but I gave them a phone call and explained that I was a student and needed it asap and low and behold its being delivered tomorrow!

 

It's off by a week, so deduct a week. Shipments come from Malaysia, get dropped off at the Texas headquarters, and then sent allover the Us/CDN

 

How long does it usually take between ordering and having it shipped?

 

If it's off by a week, I hope that means they ship mine today, because the 23rd (it's set for 2day shipping) is in two days

 

Which of the customer service lines would I want to call to see if I can have the delivery of my m11x (ordered on the 16, estimated delivery date the 30 (!!)) expedited/upgraded? I'm optimistic that I might receive the laptop early next week, but I'd love to try to speed along the process owing to the fact that I'm on an internship in Kansas by myself and require entertainment.

 

Well, I ordered mine on the 1st, and I was told my EDD was the 20th.
And what do you know? It arrived the 20th

 

its on the fedex truck and on its way, so i will be getting on the delivery date

 

Ordered July 14th. EDD was July 28th. Shipped July 21st via Fedex NBD. Will be in my hands tomorrow July 22nd.

 

Just wanted to say

I ordered on the 9th. It went to production on the 13th and it shipped on the 21st!

It is currently in Toronto, and should be delivered tomorrow (23rd)

I am in Canada in case any1 is wondering, and EDD was august 2nd!

 

Either talk to your sales rep or his/her manager. At your request, they'll mark it as an expedited shipment.

 

It takes an average of 4-5 business days to build, then it ships (Malaysia > Texas > Your House), so if you're in the US, you get it in 2 days, Canada it takes 3-4 days ...in my experience. So generally you'll have it in your hands within 2 weeks if all goes well and they aren't back ordered on parts.

 

Mine said it was made in China. Hopefully no Foxcon workers were injured in the process.

 

Mine was ordered 7/13, had an EDD 7/30. Was shipped today (7/24) and EDD is now 7/27. So I'm getting it 3 days early. Not too shabby.

 

Mine was estimated at 8/4 and i am playing for 3 days already .
Ordered 7/10 .

 

I ordered my m11xr2 on 6/11. The EDD was first 7/12, and then 7/8. It was delivered on 6/30

 

My M15x came one week earlier. Best surprise EVER

 

Well I've had an interesting morning. FedEx actually CALLED me to tell me that they would be delivering my laptop a day earlier than the estimated date was since it was priority overnight. Heh...WRONG. Called FedEx back when it got to be later and the laptop was still just sitting at the local sorting facility. Turns out some idiot mis-sorted it and locked it in the sorting box they don't open until tonight.

In other words,...it goes back to being the estimated date it was when FedEx first picked it up, priority overnight or not, even though they told me it would be delivered at 10:30 AM. Gotta love FedEx .

EDIT: It finally got here 7/27/10. A full 3 days early. I'm happy.

 

My first Area51 m17X was really late past its EDD, like 3 weeks past. That was due to benchmarking troubles. Ended up with a refund for it a couple of weeks ago.
This time around I ordered on the 20th July and had EDD for M11X of August 04 and EDD for M17X of Aug 06.
Site updated today and though my two are still in production the site says the EDD is July 29th and 30th? That means they are shipping now because that is 3 days from now. I got free standard shipping so, I'm confused.
Either they didn't update the fact it has shipped or the EDD is wrong. It's all good though because an early delivery would be a welcome surprise.
Only problem is I kind of need to know when to be home to get them.

 

I ordered my 15x on 7/27/10 and the EDD was 8/13/10, but the order got canceled due to I needed to talk to my bank and let them know the payment was accepted. So I got that fixed and had to reorder the laptop, but it was the same exact order just a different order number but now the EDD is 8/26/10. What is that about? Dell had no awnsers for me
