It's enabled in Catalyst.
but when I'm playing games if the game utilizes Crossfire shouldn't I see the ATi Crossfire logo visibly displayed somewhere in the corner of the screen? is this an option that I can turn either on or off via catalyst?
I was playing battlefield Bad company 2 & i am getting 60Fps with my current configuration (check my Sig.) every once in a while it dips down to the 55-59Fps range would this mean Crossfire is being utilized in order for me to get those frame rates with my M17x config?
I want to be sure everything is working corrrectly before my 21 day grace period is up... all input would be greatly appreciated.

I think u can download GPU-Z to check weather Xfire is on.

The option to turn on the ATI Crossfire logo in games that support and utilize crossfire is found when you right click on the ATI logo in the Taskbar under the Crossfire pullout.

I prefer using ATi Tray Tool that you can find on various sites, including Guru3d. It doesn't have the annoying Crossfire Logo, but shows you the frame rate in the bottom right (whether crossfire is on or not). It gives you more configuration options you never knew were there, and it has a hardware section with a simple checkbox to enable it or disable it. If you enable it, and it *stays* enabled, crossfire is working.
I mention the framerate display because for instance if I am in a game my frame rate will fall from say 42 frames with all options on in a game down to like 26. Often once you know the game you can quickly tell just by this.
With your M17x-R2, I have found too that mine will lose it's crossfire setup when I turn off the machine with the power disconnected, and sometimes when I turn it on without the power plugged in off battery alone. In that case simply having Device Manager delete the cards, and letting them be re-detected from a cold boot seems to fix it. I may have a dodgy card or *slightly* loose cable, but I suspect this is some card level bios problem that I haven't spent enough time researching yet.
Oh and as a fellow BF:BC2 player I can DEFINITELY tell you that Crossfire is working with 60 frames dipping into the 50's with a dual HD4870 pair mated with an i7 720. With all the options on and running say x4 AA you will *still* get a smooth running 40+ frames, dropping into the mid-30's on occasion. It sounds like you have some settings turned down, which is true for most FPS players, but you can turn a few up without impacting your kill rate -
I am downloading as I type this.
I dont have the issue with losing xfire that I know of when I power up with out the AC adapter. but than again how would I know for sure?
do you lose the check mark in Catalyst aswell?
btw I am Running 1920x1200 with all settings Cranked up with only 2xAA & 4xArtiscopic Filetring. It is definatley running like a champ! thanks again for your input! -
Thanks also Marvie for that lil ATi nugget.
How can I ensure Crossfire is Running on My M17x2?
