    How do you do that.
When I play games on high settings my laptop gets really noisy because of the fans.
Should I even be thinking about lowering the fans speed?
Last thing I want is my system to get overheated and get all messed up :/

With a QX9300, you're going to have high fan speeds... I wouldn't recommend decreasing the fan speeds in that system at all.

put it in stealth mode ^^ Or bash your computer several times until the fans stop :D

Honestly why would you ask to decrease your fan speeds when you know you cant without it overheating or compensating for performance.

Anyone got any advice for a cooler pad?
I mean I want to protect my investment ( I have the warranty good until 02/29/2012)
I still want to do everything to make sure this system runs good for the next several years.
I have placed the laptop on a good desk with lots of space in the back for the air to flow.

I heard bad stuff on laptop coolers, that they kill your system quicker?

If you have any suggestions feel free to post.

Indeed the cryo lx is the best laptopcooler for the alienware m17x model.
Btw, I don't get the people's problem with the cooling pads/fans noise. You buy an expensive gaming rig with literaly hot hardware, and if you are one of the lucky ones who got decent cooling with it you nag cuz its to loud... How hard is it to tune up the sound volume during gaming. Who games witouth loud sounds anyway, it makes the gaming experience al the more intense.

People obviously never had a (desktop-) system with a 120x120x35mm Delta Fan(s) blasting away at full power. The M17x is silent as a lamb compared with the fans at full power and the Cryo LX at full power compared to a system with those monsters in it. ;)
Seriously, for a high-performance laptop, the M17x noise level isn't too bad. Personally, I find the fan noise to be rather soothing.

Edit: You can't expect a fast car like a ferrari to make the same sound as your bike... This is exactly what an alienware m17x is compared to most low and medium consumer budget laptops.

I do have a desktop...custom built by me, Antec 1200, huge full tower.
The fans are not as noisy running at full speed on it.
Most likely I can't hear the noise because the desktop tower is set at the buttom instead on being right infront of me.

Yeah, likely. Still, the 35mm thik Delta fans are way louder than any others - and also push way more air. ;)
