How do you feel about your M17

This is for users with the alienware M17 laptop. Tell us if you are having a good expirience or a bad one with the laptop.

Mine is now playing like crap the screen is tearing im just pissed off with it.

 

No problems. Just wish the keyboard illumination was brighter.

 

I absolutely love it. I am excited to come home from work and see it, Alien Head ablaze, keyboard glowing bright...
No issues with performance, the matte/rubber palm rest. No dead pixels on the LCD.
I'm very happy with the purchase.

What are your specs, Ajbeagles?

 

Love mine and no problems here, though do notice the space bar on the keyboard sounds as if it sticks when pressing it, if I remember correctly read somewhere here that there may be tape under it?

 

i love mine.
i pretty much have the basic setup and it runs everygame just fine at mostly high settings.
ive had no technical or performance issues.

and next year ill have a better processor!

 

Perfect, no problems! Ok, one problem, my illuminated Keybord is broken! Only red color is avaible!

M17 is a great Notebook!

 

Besides the fact that I had to reseat the connection on my keyboard to get the backlighting to function, remove tape from between my heatsink and GPU's and reapply proper thermal grease, I like it. It seems like a solid notebook but they definitely need to check out their quality control department.

No issues so far, pretty happy that made the purchase. Only thing is... I HATE VISTA

 

So far mine is working like a champ. However did a MSCONFIG and unchecked a couple of boxes for programs that really didn't need to be loaded at startup to reduce load on system. Programs like Adobe reader. Otherwise great experience so far. Let a couple coworkers play Crysis on it and you might say they were a little late getting back to work.

 

I'm loving my laptop, the only issue I had is air leakage in the plastic covering the media buttons, but nothing big though.

Hoosier, you've stated before you use the Cargo bag . I'd like to order one for the AW I just ordered but they are very concerned whether it will fit. are you placing an AW in this case? How well does it fit....barely? I would really apprecite the info.

 

We've got one pretty decent M17(although we're having some sound stuttering issues and occassionally the video locks up on it and causes a black screen - we're going to try new drivers for both), and then one horrid M17 that is currently being replaced by AW with a new one.

Customer service is another story...sheesh...

So our experience is that they're getting it mostly right 50% of the time...

 

i know its for owner but technically i paid for one ...

i feel angry because its backordered and it gonna be at least 2 weeks!!!!

 

I have experienced problems so far with alienwares customer service and billing staff. They still have not credited my VISA with what is now over $1000 in extra charges that have been billed at separate times over the last 2 weeks.

Wonder what I will experience when the laptop arrives?

New m17 owner!, Everything works great except the illuminated keyboard function. =( I read customers have to re-seat the connector.

 

Well, the Sony 18.4" notebook I had before this one fit just fine. I haven't tried putting the M17 in it yet, but I have no doubt it will fit perfectly fine. I'll try it out and report back later.

The driver problems I have are selfmade xD Didn't bought the Alienrespawn DVD and installed Vista without using Alienrespawn ...

The M17 fits. There is just enough room to fit the massive power brick. Don't expect room for much more in the center area.
