I tried searching for details, but couldn't find any. So pardon me if this has been covered ad naseum!

I have a new M17 with the qx9300. So far, the only game I've had time to test is Left 4 Dead. I don't notice anything I'd call stuttering, but there is a weird twitching of certain areas. Most notably, right when you start the game on the roof, one of the baseboards along the floor flickers. other than that, it seems fine. Blu Rays and music play perfectly with no issues.

People who suffer stuttering are usually people who overclock it to 3.2 Ghz, though I may be wrong. Stuttering is basically when your game is running at good FPS's, but your game freezes for a moment every 5 seconds.

i ran at 3.2ghz. but not everyone could do that. plus people with the q9000, q9100, qx9300 and the q9200 also encountered stuttering.
    it's a quad related issue.

also i put the multiplier at 6x which is 1.6ghz and i still stuttered.

it will be a very noticeable drop in frame rates during games or sound problems during media playback, those are the 2 easiest ways to recognize it

so far, no absolute solution has been found

this is for ALL quads, not just the QX9300 (clock speed irrelevant)

there is a couple but it works for some and not for others. i won't mention my way cause some don't believe it works for some reason. but what ever. but there is a new test that so far it WILL be the answer and it makes sense more then anything and it was never tested in the quad core problem thread. but it is being tested right now so we can't reveal the it unless we know 1000000% it's the answer.

That is why I said absolute. We can reduce it, and some people don't have it at all, but no widepsread 100% solution yet

my brother owns an m17 and has never fully described his "meh" feelings towards it though I suspect this may be a reason for it. my m15x is going in for repair so I will spend some quality time with his m17 as he tends to use my firebird desktop by hp alot :( wolfenstein should be a good test :)
