I'm aware of course that cooler is better in most situations,
But I've seen alot of variation on this subject, "How hot is too hot" In regards to CPU / GPU terms, Everyone seems to have an opinion on this, Personally I don't like my CPU/GPU being in the late 70 early 80s, However i know several people that don't like either even hitting 70. (I think my M9750 corrupted me as the GPUs went to 90C Easily.)
What does everyone think and what do you think the max temps should be on the M17x?![]()

The CPU shouldn't be going above 80, the GPUs shouldn't be going above 90. That's pretty much the points at which they get damaged if ran for prolonged periods at such temperatures. But of course cooler is better.
The M17x of course has exceptional cooling and I'd expect less; I think in the M17x that neither CPUs nor GPUs should be going above 70C. -
Cheers I was under that impression.

my cpu is about 50 and gpu 50-65 but the 9400 is hitting 70
edit, since upgrading to a3 i get no stutter, but my temps ave shot up
all gpus are 70-78, that normal? -
mm think ive got a problem played cod 4.. temp went to 101.. on the gpu lol? i went back to 186.82. with A3 all was fine before i went to A3 anyone help pls?

For your record I once got my 9400M reach 255*C lol. But it was kinda a bug with HWMonitor lol.

If your temps are getting 100+ as several members are, I would suggest calling dell. It's normal for the 9400 to hit 70 because it shares the heat sink with the processor on the M17X. Therefore some of the heat is transfered to the 9400. Anything above 80 for the CPU and 90 for GPU I would be worried about. Don't want to get it so hot it melts the solder and your stuck with a dead GPU.
