As some people may know, I'm returning my Alienware M17X R3 back to dell, even after the 21 days, I can use the money I bought it with and place it towards the M18X when it hopefully comes out tomorrow. I decided to call Alienware's Nashville branch and the guy over the phone said they'd print me a shipping label and all that, which is fine for me. But then the hard part came in, and he said the whole process would take 2-3 weeks to finish, from the time i ship it to nashville from PA where I live, to other things I forgot he mentioned cause I thought he didn't know what he was talking about.

What i'm asking is, has anyone gone through this process in the past, and if so how long would the whole process take?

2-3 weeks sounds about right. Mine took about 5-6 weeks after I shipped it back from Iraq for me to see the money credited back to my account.

I don't need the money credited back to my account, because im using that money towards the M18X, so i'd have to order it thru the phone and have something done.

I doubt they will let you use it as credit to the m18x until they actually receive your laptop which as stated above will take 2-3 weeks at least

I talked to the manager, and he sent me an email already agreeing they would do that. It doesn't make any sense, cause I ship from PA to Nashville, I highly doubt it takes 2-3 weeks, not just receiving it, but doing everything else.

Out here it took me about 2.5 weeks to see the money back on the credit card. If they have already agreed, then should be your standard build + shipping time from when they receive your M17x back.

Wow it took you guys a long time. When I returned my M15x, they said it would take about 2 weeks but about a week later, the money was in my bank account. o_O

A lot of that turn around time is actually between the CC processing network and the bank and not Dell/AW it takes on average 3-5 business days from when a merchant processes a return to when the bank receives the funds and credits your account.

Sometimes that process will go quicker (or longer) depending on the Network the merchant uses and the bank the customer uses.

Basically what I am saying is that Dell does not have control over the turn around on a refund in the same way they do with a credit that they will put toward another notebook. I would expect you to have the credit available substantially sooner and they probably just have a stock turn around time to quote on all returns because the reps do not really understand the whole process.

I was thinking of this situation. If the M18X comes out tomorrow, they will print me a return label and i'll ship it back. It gets there by friday, and the manager can work something out and I can just order the laptop over the phone (or even online, if the manager can give me a "personal customerr coupon" for "X" amount (X being the amount I bought my R3 for) because I'm supposed to pay the price difference for the M18X anyway.
