I was just wondering for everybody who has sent in an Alienware notebook for repairs of any kind how long has been it away for before being returned back to you? I've head people say its only been away for a week or a week & a half, is this just a one off or a myth?

The first time my m15x when it for a repair for a new lid/screen it was exactly two weeks from DHL picking it up to DHL returning it, unfortunately as soon as I got it back the stealth mode touchpad wasn't working & now its back at AW currently being fixed.

Despite being a much quicker problem to fix than replacing a whole lid I'm surprised when I contacted them that they said 10-12 business days estimate & now its been there since Sat (sent by DHL on Fri) they say its currently waiting to enter the diagnosing phase.

I don't think there is a set time. A lot of the mystery has to do with how we know nothing about how busy AW actually is. Are they just blowing off certain customers or do they really have a ton of work that needs to be done, thus hindering manufacting/repair time?

This thread is still a good idea though, I think. It might be nice to tally some times together. Just don't take it as concrete information.

mine went back for a fried motherboard and while it was there they changed the chassis as well. sadly the new one they gave me was another customers with their nameplate on the bottom.
they are normally sent back to them by air and then returned to you by road.
mine was 8 days in total.

i had nothing but problems with it since day 1. within 1 hour of it being taken out the box i was on to tech support for 2 hours and that still didnt solve the problems. i was given a rma to return it but after such a long wait i didnt want to let it go straight away. it wasnt until my 3Dmark06 scores dropped from 9698 to 3559. i tried to get a refund but they refused and said i had to get a repair. firstly they rang up and said there was nothing wrong with it and they would be returning it. i asked had they looked at the jpeg's of the 3D scores i had put on the desktop. 1 hour later i get a call to say my motherboard was fried. no mention of changing the chassis.
8 days later i get it back. the 3Dmark06 scores were still low at 7900ish and when i looked at the bottom of the case it had a nameplate in the name of astec solutions ltd who are a large IT company in the uk.
as you can imagine i wasnt best pleased so i canceled it there and then.
yes i was sad to return it as i had so much high hopes of a once world renound company but the way i had been treated was just the last straw.
would i buy from AW again... it would have to be something very very special before i go down that road again.
