NOW I got $ 2000,and I want to buy a alienware .
However ,10 series is coming soon.
I am not sure if i have enough money to buy it ,even though in thanksgiving day .
could anyone show me the discounts in recent years ?
or recommend some good gaming "17 inch" laptop for me ?

They don't really offer many discounts these days. I remember a time when you could get 30% off. Today, you are lucky to get 5%. Don't expect much!

I think i need to buy different brand laptop now .
But actually i am so eager for a laptop to play game because my present laptop is so old .
confusing about what brand I should buy .ROG or msi ? -
You're better off getting something more powerful anyway. For under $2000 you can get this with 6700K and 1070 with unlocked @Prema BIOS and vBIOS:
EVOC P750DM2-G 15.6" Custom Built Gaming Laptop w/ nVIDIA GTX GTX 1070
A legit no-compromise enthusiast laptop... no disposable BGA trash to contend with in addition to being more powerful. -

If you're looking for advice on which laptop to buy, I suggest asking on the " What Notebook Should I Buy?" section.
Alienware's Black Friday varies as they're combined with Cyber Monday deals as well. They're closer in terms of holiday sales but no coupons.katalin_2003 likes this. -
They have a similar machine available with 6700K, @Prema unlocked BIOS and 1070 or 1080 for a similar price. Basically same thing with larger screen. Here is a link.

Get from LPC, they're a prema partner (bios / vbios flashed on request), come with 2 year sager warranty, and much cheaper compared to HID. -
@Prema does not have them listed yet, but Larry is a good guy for sure. https://biosmods.wordpress.com/partner/
-
I called them and Larry said that prema bios can be obtained (from them) on request and flashed through teamviewer. -
As long as LPC is a @Prema partner or have an agreement of some kind with Prema that's not a problem. Larry is a straight shooter with a good reputation, so I doubt there would be an issue. There have been other Clevo resllers that were distributing PremaMod firmware without permission in the past, and that's definitely not cool.

They're not yet a prema partner, but soon to be (according to Prema).

Dell Outlet is always a good choice if you have limited funds.

It all comes down to price really.
I don't mind buying a BGA machine if the price is low enough to distinguish them from the true DTR laptops.Mr. Fox likes this. -
Cheap is always fairly easy to accommodate and forgiving lameness is not difficult when you didn't pay much. However, it doesn't seem like most of the OEMs are giving a break on price with BGA. Seems like most are charging about the same as the superior systems with sockets and slots. Having to pay the same, or close to it, for something inferior is never acceptable in my book. Good examples are the sub-$500 Dell Inspiron notebooks. In that scenario I don't care if it is BGA because they are so cheap and my expectations of it are aligned with the price.

Need to factor in warranty too...
Like it or not, Dell still has the best warranty in the market :| -
Sort of. I would never make a buying decision based on the warranty or compromise on the specs I want in favor of a better warranty. If you are comparing identical specs among two brands I would certainly agree.
It also depends on whether you pay for NBD on-site repair/parts replacement or standard depot repair warranty. Even the NBD support and warranty service is not executed as gracefully as it used to be. They've cut corners and many of the support people are less than competent. The last couple of times I needed to use it I was not very impressed. If you pay extra for NBD on-site it is better to have parts or a tech dispatched to your house instead of sending the machine off to a depot and waiting a long time to hear what they decided about your issue. That's what you can typically expect from most of their competitors.
The best warranty is one you never need to use. -
Oh yeah, never send to depot.
@iunlock had some bad experiences and I wouldn't attempt the same thing. -
Oh those Depots...absolute rubbish techs, not even worthy to be called techs... where Dells warranty shines is with their no hassle replacement parts and turn around time. Even with a tech sent to your home, make sure to take control. There is a way...I'll leave it at that.
@Mobius 1, plastic cap. RoFL...

Depending on what the problem is, sometimes they don't give you any option except depot. That's generally when they don't have a clue what the problem is and it might be multiple parts. They generally won't do the "shotgun" approach to repair using NBD on-site warranty. Fortunately, things that go wrong are normally pretty easy to diagnose. I've only had to use a depot repair once during a 5-year warranty and I was not pleased with the outcome. It was very fast (total of 5 days including shipping) but they screwed up some things and I had to get them to send me a couple of replacement parts that got broken by their depot muppets.
My preference is NBD parts-only dispatch. I don't need a tech and don't like strangers touching my stuff.DeeX likes this. -
I'm curious on what the service will be like for Clevo/Sager units.
-
That will likely vary by reseller. Some are going to be remarkably better than others. Unlikely it will ever be viewed as fast compared to Dell/Alienware NBD on-site, but probably a consistently better outcome than Dell Depot repair.
-
I agree and I find this information regarding warranty and services very valuable for those seeking to find a laptop with a good warranty service. Therefore, for those of you who are reading this shopping the market, make sure to take note of what to expect with the warranty services. Don't let Dell steam roll you into sending your machine out to cartoon land, aka "Depot." Demand what you want, not ask or these clowns will take you out like a casino.Mr. Fox likes this.

I consider depots the end of line for any laptop. Most depots work on multiple brands by the way. From acers to asus. The outsourced inhouse techs arent always great with dell but when they do screw up they replace the whole system.
But after emaling some people at alienware directly they sent me the parts and i repair it myself. -
Very true...the depot oh what not a wonderful place lol.
Yea I always demand to have the parts sent to me as well.
How many discounts would be in Black Friday ?
