    How many displays can you hook up with the m17x?

    I got one screen connected with the HDMI port at the moment. but can a second external monitor be connected, maybe lets say to the display port?

    Yes but you have to disable the laptop screen

    awww damn, looks like the matrox dualhead2go is the only solution to this, which can add 2 monitors onto one DVI port

    but right now im curious about the maximum resolution the m17x can handle, because adding the matrox adapter effectively increases the resolution to 3840 pix x 1200 and splitting it between two monitors

    i think you can but only if you have dual GPUs in a non SLI configuration.

    I've hooked up three monitors including the laptop display to a Dell Laptop before through a matrox box, but the installed driver's have to support multiple monitors. You will have to use the Matrox drivers to do this to support multiple monitors.
    Beyond that, you can only have a total of two monitor's working at one time (laptop and one external, or two externals) with the native drivers.
    FYI, the matrox driver's may not be the best for gaming purposes.
