How many of you guys use the black alienware sleeve your laptop came with?
I like it but am wondering if I need a more padded sleeve for protection in my backpack but the stock sleeve looks really cool.

I don't use it. It's sitting in the bottom of my backpack.
-
Stupid question but does anyone know where to get one of these? I ordered my R3 from dell outlet and did not receive one. The new laptop bag I purchased is a snug fit and I am concerned that the zippers might eventually scratch the surface of the laptop. One of these pouches would work perfect to protect the surface without adding any extra bulk. I have looked online but I cant find one. I am guessing dell is my only hope?

Hmmm.. i recommand u could choose some military pounchs?
or camera laptop pouches?
they are thick enough but yet pretty darn good for protection -

Just buy an aftermarket one that will fit the laptop and you'll be happier.
I use mine but I'm also careful with my backpack all the time. -

I havent had cause to really use mine yet. I have the M18x Orion Backpack too so I guess it will help prevent damage when putting it in that (or any other case for that matter).
I have a spare "Sleeve" lying aruond here from an M17x that I intend to unstitch and re-stitch to make a screen protector. Think if you dont have a use for it and its just lying around doing nothing, it would make a good cloth for between the keyboard and screen when not in use. In its current format, its too bulky to use for that but if trimmed down to the size of a microfibre, would do the job, I imagine.
Anyway, gonna cut up my spare at some point and bust out the sewing machine to tidy up the cut edges...jobs a good 'un!
Im gonna keep the side with the AW logo on so that when I open the lid, Im greeted by the part of the "sleeve" with that on it (the silky "inside" will then be facing the keys and the soft side will protect the screen.....)
Pretty cool idea??? -
Cool. thanks for the Responses.
Yeah, I have a targus laptop backpack that fits a laptop with a laptop area in it.
So I think I will use this sleeve as added protection. -
Yeh, i always use the Alienware sleeve when my laptop is in the Orion backpack. Stops the latop from rubbing against that horrid plastic type material it sits in.
-
I really like it; it has a nice stretchy feel to it, and very fashionable. -
So I just got my alienware and it's a new experience.
Though, I'm wondering how much of the "Alienware" feel you seasoned-alienware users keep?
For example, from the alienware sleeve, to the lights and wallpaper, and all the logos, it seems a bit Alienware-ish fanboy.
How much of the customizations do you guys keep or do you guys like the "strictly" alienware look? -
The only thing I changed was my background image.
I keep everything else loud and proud... from my tactx mouse, keyboard, headphone, optx monitor, to even having a alienware lcd cleaning cloth.
I am a fanboy by all means and love it. -

Sleeve-still in the box. Bought a neoprene sleeve for mine. Never wear the hat. Keep the mouse pad. Sticker of Alien head on my truck bumper. Background changed. Lights-always on.
-
sleeve unused.. bought a nice padded one. plus i carry it in that plus a ferrari backpack. hat mouse keyboard and stickers.. dont have any.. i kinda want a couple alienware stickers. background is a fully custom made alienware background. lights are on when they need to be(when i cant see the letters on the keyboard)

If anything I wish I had more Alienware swag. I put the sticker that was included on my power brick (looks awesome), wish I had more stickers, of course I never wear the hat. The sleeve I keep at the bottom of my backpack and use it sometimes, i'm still looking for the right padded sleeve for mine. I like some of the ones Slappa has, but have yet to take the plunge. I've even looked at a few Alienware shirts on eBay to buy haha. Speaking of that anyone know a site with good Alienware apparel that would ship to Canada, nothing too good on eBay. I kept all the wallpapers but have my own mixed in and they switch every hour. Suffice to say I really like the Alienware brand/ logo.
-
Given the option, I wouldn't mind NOT having the alien head logo or the alienware name on any of it, mostly to avoid attracting the attention of possible laptop thieves, or annoying people who sometimes go so far as to come over and touch it.
That said, the logo, the lights, etc. are all part of Alienware's branding, and it is fun in a showing-off kind of way. I especially like that the extent of the branding makes it a good counter to mac fanboys, especially with having the system specs to back up the flashy appearance.
I use the sleeve and Orion backpack since they go with the notebook itself and have an intended function, their cosmetic appearance and part of the branding being secondary. I don't use the wallpapers or other swag as that's TOO fanboy-ish for me. But I do keep all that with the intention to include it later on when the time comes to sell the system. -
I carry my M11x everywhere in the alienware sleeve. I'm proud to show off the alienware branding so when people ask what sort of laptop I have, I can try to convert them to the Alienware side
I think the coloured AlienFX are the biggest head turner. Having the lights pulsing different colours and watching people stare in awe never gets old.
I always get a small burst of joy when I see the glowing head of an Alien staring back at me in the library, amongst a sea of glowing apples. -
I personally have non. Really enjoy the systems different look but adding more is a option I wont go down. I do use the nice mouse pad with the Alienware logo. Its a nice touch but as for the sleeve and hat its still in the box.
-
Psh, I go one step further, I go up to random strangers, whip out my M17x R3 shoving the alienware logo right in their face to prove I'm better than them.
I've owned mine for all of five minutes, I may wear the hat but I'll let you know on the rest later. -
When I got my M17xR1 I wore the hat for a bit but now it just hangs on my wall. The sticker I gave to my mom and who knows what she did with it. I use both mouse pads (got one with my R1 and my R2), one is permanently attached to my DeathAdder and the other is my mobile one since my Razer mat is too big. I changed my background but user icon is still the alien head. Lights are always on since that is one thing I like best about the AWs. And the sleeves... well I never used them with my M17x's but I use the one for the M11x as added protection when I put it in my bag since it isn't a bare aluminum case.
-
I use mine in basically the same way. Toss it on the M11x before I put it in a bag. I never used them with the M17x's since they were bare aluminum.

I don't usually use mine, however when I was flying Boston to London the other day I did put it in its soft cover thing before putting it in my bag. However that was just me being OCD over thats its brand new and i didn't want it getting damaged.
I probably wont use it that often now.. -
If you are looking to protect your computer as much as possible, I would keep using the black cloth cover. I still use it when I transport my lappy around in my backpack. Also, if you have an m17x (especially the r3), I would heavily recommend the shaggy mac 17.3in laptop screen protector/wipe cloth. It fits perfectly (like literally a quarter of a centimeter off on all sides). I lack the equipment or expertise to upload a picture, but you have my assurances that it is very effective.
-
When I took my laptop to work I used the sleeve yes preventing the paint to chip or parts getting scrathed.
-
I lost my pouch but I used to use the pouch to protect the corners from the zippers on my book bag. I put the Alienware sticker over the Toshiba logo on my linux notebook so it looks like an Alienware haha
-
How many of you guys use the Alienware "pouch" ?
