Out of courtesy, we will not mention prices " specific" people paid for the Alienware M17x.
Please vote only if you have placed an order for the system.
- How did you place it? Phone or website?
- Any discounts? EPP? Free shipping? Military free tax? etc.
If you would like to justify the price, you may (post specs as well) - but be aware that you are allowing others to see how much you paid for the system.
With that, please share anonymously if you feel uncomfortable.

Using Dell's EPP I got my system as in my Sig for around $2,400 USD with a Rep on the phone name Maryanne. She was very nice and "giving" <-- That's what she said.
-
if i have SLI .....
if i would of saw the quad deal (julyu) code i would of gotten it .... but now i will wait it out -
I'm from europe and paid €2,200 for the config in my sig.
In USD that would be around $3,100 -
i had a hole in my pocket and 5.8k fell out of it.
-
Before taxes mine was $28XX. After taxes and proc upgrade mine was $3400.
-
I believe, with taxes, it was $2445 (includes tax price), but since i ordered a surge protecter with it, not sure of price... guessing $2445, give or take $25
EDIT:then i saw this e-coupon to where i could of gotton a quad 2.0 and SLI 280 graphics for this price... oh well, i plan (and am very excited to) upgrade to ATI 4870's and a better processor, in the future and hopefully 4870 come soon... -
Or if word comes out of new 300m gddr5 nvidia cards than i may wait for it. -

-
Including tax and shipping $2915 USD
EPP and DPA discounts. -
Okay, I must have missed something, because I wasn't able to get a *single* discount on *anything* from the reps, and I spoke to about three of them. All of them were in agreement that there *were* no discounts being offered on the M17x- if I was to order any other Dell laptop, sure, but not the M17x....
So what exactly am I missing here? -
call an epp rep.
Also canceling an order is a pain took me 4 days and about 8 to 9 reps to get my order canceled and redo the order. -
I didn't receive any discounts either. I was offered a Dell preferred account but didn't take it as my credit is terrible and I didn't even want to try.
-
I paid $2,174, no taxes. $2,203 with shipping included shipping to montana

ESD: 8/5 EDD: 8/11 praying it ships this week!! -
I accidentally voted less than 1799, I didn't buy one I thought the button I clicked was like a "see results" button
My bad -
I am fairly happy with my purchase price(actually less than i was expecting). first rep refused to give me EPP (according to her AW was the latest and greatest and no discount was allowed).
When I called on the phone the guy was very persistent, but not overly. actually suggested discounts and DPA discount... i spoke with him in am,, got home called him back and placed the order. only like a week later noticed that he promised free shipping, but i got charged for it. $30 is not worth to argue for, but i gonna call let him know when I get the system. Probably mention his oversight. if he wants to throw me a 64mb flash drive, refund the shipping, give me a credit for another accessory-kewl, if not... well i am not bringing it twice...
-
6000 big ones, my pocket was burning hotter than the sun
-
-
Specs are on the sig. Ordered it and everything online. Paid with an international credit card and had to call dell up. No discounts whatsoever. No free shipping either. With everything plus tax i was also fined for purchasing a 17" notebook so the price tag went up $3000+.
-
got a quad 2.0, 2 260s in sli, 4gb ram, 1440 res for $2099 through best buy.
-
-
A whapping... And thats with 10% discount (but without the backpack...)

Well I am ordering tomorrow, but here is the MOST I will be paying (pending my haggle skills!)
My goals for the haggle are at least free shipping and a free Orion Backpack. But fingers crossed for all I can get!
$2568.37 Shipped and Taxed
$2417.07 before shipping and tax
Lunar Silver
GTX280m SLI
1920x1200 Screen
4GB 1066 Ram
250GB 7200rpm HDD
Slot Load Blu-Ray Reader
Q9000
This is using the E-Value code form SLeey0 and 7% EPP
I went by my local MicroCenter and checked out the display model....they are beautiful...I think I drooled on it some
I am pretty excited! -
I voted under 3000 earlier... but now I went slightly over.
My new order came out to be $3039.81 after taxing. Phone.
Space black
Q9000
280m sli
2x 500gb raid 1
4gb 1066 ram
1920x1200 lcd
Blu-ray combo (reader)
3 years warranty + complete care
Used the e-value code sleey0 provided and sort of haggled for an extra $75 off and free shipping. Saved $751.91 compared to not using any of those discounts.
I probably could have gotten $25 more off, but eh. -
-
i spent over 51xx
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Same price as mentioned above with an update, called to check in and got order expedited, shipping refunded, and free upgrade to next day Air. Next week, we try to get an Orion Backpack out of them haha
That price though does not factor in my QX9300 ($502.55 US) and the SSD I will buy for it in a month or two ($400 area). -
Hey Scook- funny story, had almost the exact same thing happen to me. Checked on the order last night, said it had been changed/canceled, flipped out and got up early this morning to call them right as they opened, only to have my sales rep e-mail me 2 minutes later apologizing profusely and bumping me up to next day shipping and lopping off the shipping charges.
Must have been an end-of-the-month thing, eh? -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
that is EXACTLY what happened haha
Saw it was "changed/canceled" so got them on the phone and was like "whats going on?" -
Yeah, I had one hell of a restless night last night- got back from work and saw that it had changed AFTER their offices closed. Actually, you might be able to help- on the off chance you paid with a credit card, did you have to re-submit the information? The first two times I placed the order, it processed and went into production almost immediately. Right now it's been 'Processing' for about an hour now and has no billing info listed....
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
No, didn't have to redo anything with card, and didn't resubmit order, just changed the standing one.
-
weeeee, ordered 1 yesterday (gtx 280 SLI, QX9300, 8GB DDR3, 1TB RAID 0)
and then.................I started to cry cause it was exactly €5978,99 -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
well that is a lot of money, you will love the laptop once you get it. I love mine and don't even have it yet haha
-
I'm in the Navy and i got like 600.00 dollars off
..there is no way i would have bought this monster without the military discount!!
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
Ya I saved about $600 on mine between the magical e-value code that was going around and EPP
-
Could someone be kind enough to point out where to find out about these discounts? Thanks. Buying regardless just want best bang for buck possible. Thanks.
-
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
well the code I used is expired now, but pretty much anyone can get the Dell EPP 7% off
-
-
Lets bring this post back alive. I really want to know what people are paying and what configuration they have.
-
Mine was @ $5100 with 7% EPP and Tax.
-
:O Now I remember why I got the M15x....
-
I did a straight swap, 2 month old 15" uMBP for a M17x (see sig).
So far I am pleased, but I'd like a dual boot with a certain fruity company's software. -
cookinwitdiesel Retired Bencher
All in all I spent about $3325 and have an extra set of ram. Not too shabby -

Started by ordering online but then did almost everything via phone.
It took 21 days for the whole process from ordering to receiving my system. 1 week before EDD in time that so many people got delay.
Its supposed to be EPP 7% discount.
But in fact I got my system for $2,467.5 inclusive everything else and Free standard FedEx shipping for a list price + TAX of $2,770 => 11% discount. -
Hi Guys, I ordered my System two days ago. I had to order it via the Chat system on the UK site (I am at work on an Oil rig in the North Sea) I wanted dual SSD's and the UK site didn't have them as an option, but they can configure them via chat or phone.
I got a 5% reduction code in an email, but when I checked the configuration against one I had done previously, with the code added it came to the same price (They had actually increased the price of the components in the config pages) So, I hope nobody is ordering this thing without the discount code which was due to end on December 2nd. *The prices are still the same Today! £1,649 starting from instead of £1,599. So beware, you may be paying up to £200 more for your system!!
So I didn't really get a discount. But I am happy with the sytem choices that I ordered, just hoping the SSD's have support for Trim/Garbage collection, if not. they will be getting replaced or sold off.
The system I ordered was 1900x1200 Screen, QX9300, 2X HD4870's, 2x 256gb SSD's raid '0', Blu-Ray Combo and 4gb 1333 ram. For anyone in the UK, the 2x SSD's are £600 extra as of 30/11/09.
This lappy is strictly for gaming, I use Mac's for all of my computing needs.
I paid around £3,600 [$6,011] (£300 for 3 yrs Premium support+Accidental damage cover) -

Mine is $5800 too, because I paid $200 for shipping fee to France, dell inspiron mini10V for $99, and 10% of the total price, because I used a service called AllAmercanBasics, which could buy the laptop for me, receive it for me, test it for me and then ship it to me. 10% is quiet expensive, but they buy the laptop for me with the US credit card, and their service was really good, fast communication, they speak french very well too. And this service is cheaper and faster than MyUS and Shipito. I used their service because Dell just refused french credit card. And my orders before were cancelled 3 times before I understand that it is my credit card problem!!!
Also, when I bought it, the laptop came with free Alienware Tactx mouse and Headset. I already receive the Mouse and the headset, I need to wait for the dell Inspiron mini10V and the M17x.
In any case, buying in USA is cheaper than buying in Europe. -
Mine was $5500 after rebates, I did get it dully loaded with SSD Raid 0 and 8 GB RAM.... I couldn't be happier, my video editing performance destroys the MAC Pro, not to mention the gaming is silky smooth..... I combined it with a Synology DS409 NAS for mass storage.

1830£ (3,037$) all in not counting time value of money from 1.5 years ago (price of m1730 plus 170£ over). 3 year warranty too.
For the specs in my sig, except 1333mhz ram and 160gb HD (no 2nd bay).
How much did you get your M17x For? [Poll]
