Is it really worth the extra money? I read that the 900p screen looks great by it's self, how good does the 1080p screen look? Can I haggle it down to ~$75-$50?

I had the 900p screen when I owned an M15x and it was fantastic. I think 1080p is too high of a resolution for a 15.6" display. Just depends on whether you want 1080p or not, the quality difference is minimal.

900p screen is better overall for gaming, 1080 is only sweet when you get the blueray option.

I got the 1080p because I watch tv on my computer as well. I've ordered Lost in HD from the itunes store and I love it. Lately I've been playing WoW, SC2 Beta and Bad Company 2, and I get really good frames while gaming so I can only imagine the 900p is only better. I like having the extra space on my screen. Text can sometimes be a strain to read, but that's because I need an eye exam, its not the resolutions fault.
EDIT: Warhead also looked better than real life... too bad the multiplayer for that game sucks! -

I have the 900p because I do a lot of work on the computer. I agree with Joker that a 1080 resolution is too high for the screen size. The 900p screen itself is amazing just as it is.

It's a lower resolution so the frame rate will be higher.
My previous laptop had a 15.6 but 1366 resolution and that was way too big. 1600x900 seems to be perfect for a 15.6 inch (primarily gaming here). -
Cool, I throw the money at something else.

As you should most prob get the 900p, i have to say the 1080p is amazing for multi-tasking... gives you more screen real-estate... but if you dont care about fitting more windows on your screen..then just get the 900p...and just a side note... actual FPS increase from 900p to 1080p is minimal 2-5fps at the most

I know...but every little bit counts. -

I have the 1080 Screen and it is the best Notebook Screen I have ever had! Viewing BluRays is simply amazing and gaming is so far no problem.
Games like Total War Napoleon or Anno 1404 are running great in native resolution.
My only games which I run in scaled mode are Crysis and Crysis Warhead. But this screen scales absolute fine so there is no "no go" for it.
I would take this screen again!

I love my 1080p screen. My previous laptop was a 17" 1920x1200, and I did not want to sacrifice being able to open documents side by side - its a huge boon when coding.
Not everyone has eye floaters, but I find with larger screens (my 24" for example) they become a big problem, wheras the smaller the screen, the less of a problem they are. My eyes are moving less to see the same amount of content and thus kicking up less dead cell crap (God I hope they find a way to cure eye floaters someday).
Most apps these days allow a simple hotkey to zoom (CTRL+mousewheel) for example, so if something is too small to see its only a mouseclick away to magnify it. Plus, the screen is much sharper and brighter than my older Dell XPS Gen2 laptop, so the smaller size isn't as noticeable.
Lastly, the screen is so sharp that I often can't tell I am running a lower resolution provided I kick on some AA. Most games run fine at native rezz... Crysis aside -
What is the viewing angles and quality/colour range and contrast of the 1080i screen used in the m15x?
Do you need to apply digital vibrance to get rid of washed-out colours or is this not necessary with this screen?
How noticeable is the difference between the 900p screen and the 1080p screen on the M15x?
