This is a very little guid to show you how easy it is to make W7 Beta 64bit (7000/7100) run on the m17!

Just download this drivers from aw and ati webside:

    Audio

    Bluetooth

    Chip

    Fingerprintreader

    FPR Hotfix

    Hotkey

    MediaCard

    OSD

    Touchpad

    NEW
    W7 Command Center

    Update: newest ATI driver (9.8 + Mobility Modder = working ;) )
Catalyst 9.5 or higher will get CrossFireX working :)
Follow this guid and you'll be happy :p
How To: use Mobility Modder (Catalyst goes Mobility)

I left the drivers out which are included in a newer version in W7 and added the Catalyst driver offered by ATI for W7.

Burn them on a CD/DVD or put them on an other external "space", than install the Windows 7 Beta 64bit (7000) (The Beta-file you downloaded is an iso-file so you have to use Nero or an other program to burn a ISO to a DVD, than just put the DVD in your m17 reboot und follow the instructions, realy easy :) ).

After the installation is completed select "Vista compatibility mode" (by rightclick and compatibility) for the drivers to install. This shoud give you a full functioning W7 powered m17.

The aw drivers are from here:
    http://support.alienware.com/Suppor...rocessed.aspx?os=WV64&cat=32&manu=8&item=1152
    http://support.alienware.de/Support...processed.aspx?os=WV64&cat=32&manu=8&item=672

I hope this can help you make the choice to take a closer look at the Windows 7 beta. It's realy great!

When you have suggestions which I should add, just post them!

    Greetings
    Julian

With a full formatation the file with the 3DMark06 score is gone and AlienRespawn, but you can keep the AlienRespawn by not deleting it's partiton when you like, Commandcenter can be reinstalled.

What else are you thinking about?

    Dear Julian,
Both the newer version of these items won't work. I have read that Windows Vista (and so Win7) have problem with PCMCIA 54. There are update for win Vista but there aren't for win 7 RC 64bit.
About the Creative, my comp didn't reconized that i plug it on and the installer say there no Creative product.
    Cheer,

Hm ... the last idea I have ...

Try to insall the Mobo driver (Intel) from the Alineware DVD. Sometimes this helps W7 to find hardware related to the mobo^^

I am looking at putting Win 7 RC onto my laptop this weekend. The same drivers for BETA should all work for RC as well right?

And the ATI CCC 9.6 Win 7 drivers do NOT need to be Mob Modded and WILL support CrossFire right? (also heard about a beta 9.7 which is supposed to work well)

9.6 workes fine with W7 (7100) RC1. Since 9.5 you have CrossFireSupport on RC1, lower W7 versions supported CrossFire since the first W7 driver (I think the first was 8.12).

I ever tested the 9.7 but the performance with 9.6 is a big improofment compared to 9.5 and so I don't think 9.7 will bring some more "big" improofments ;)

All W7 drivers from ATI are mobility compatible, so you are right ;)

    Julian

Can't get the Command Center to work with 7. I believe the filename was AlienFusionCommand.exe (I had to uninstall it) was running at 50-100% of CPU at all times. And opening the Command Center would cause it to hang and I would have to kill the process. Anybody get this to work?

does any driver enable the media button in win7 or is the command center that does so
cause mine are not working in win7 but i'm using win7 32 bits so i can't install the command center on it yet

if it's the command center i guess i'll just have to wait until my real win7 arrive
