    Hey guys...

I'll be receiving my M17x replacement on the upcoming wednesday (finally!), just in case they didn't install the newest bios A02, can someone teach me how to do that myself? Is it straight forward like running an .exe?

    thanks guys

close all your applications and just download it and unpack, it will self install at least with me.

wow it's that easy? Great! thanks the3vilGenius.

Anything other firmware I should install first before I install A02?

Oh and make sure to go into the bios when you reboot to put your HDD's back in raid if you have them.

Well, yes it's true just download and run it.
But it would indeed be a wise decision to turn off any running non-essential applications, before running your BIOS upgrade.
If your update gets stuck somehow in the process your left with a bricked M17x again. So...take your time for it.

I heard that you need to install OSD 2.19 before upgrading bios to A02 or else stealth mode might not work.

@ThaDutchy: Thanks for your feedback, if I just do a fresh install of Windows 7 , log in for the first time (haven't installed anything yet) and run the A02 bios, will that be ok?

I don't think this has anything to do with the BIOS, because the BIOS is used in the computers first steps of booting, after that the OSD (software) is adressed (if installed).
Edit: however there is a conflict between OSD version and BIOS version. But it doesn't matter in what sequence its updated as long as the versions are correct (see later Post from BB).

Just make sure no stuff like anti-virus or other "safety" progams are running which could interfere in this process. (But.. yes, a clean install is probably a very good idea).

There is btw a setup sequence for the drivers of this Machine. (If interested use search, it came along a week ago, or something like that).
    Best of luck!

@ThaDutchy: Hmmm somehow I can't find it , searched "m17x driver setup sequence" (combinations of those words)

Could you please link it to me?

You will need to update to 2.19 OSD as there is a possible conflict between the Stealth Mode touch panel button. The BIOS release notes state:

    Grab OSD v2.19 HERE

    OSD = Alienware Onscreen Display

Volume/brightness onscreen meters, touchstrip (stealth and command center buttons only), etc.
