Yep great Video.
-
Thanks! Downloading it now

Great video.. Thanks for making it... I will be doing this once I get enough $$$ for the qx9300

Larry@LPC-Digital Company Representative
Thanks! Many steps indeed!
-
all the wineries are causing our population 500 towns to yuppie little places to go. so even with towns population that low they still have french restaurants coffee shops and other stupid stuff. though it is amusing to see all the farmers trucks right next to 7series bmw's
-
great video, will help alot!!
-
Thanks Moo, this comes in handy! +rep
-
Yeah quality Moo!! I really enjoyed even though I dont have a M17X.
Am I right in saying that these M17Xs seem a lot more difficult to work on and replace parts for than the M17?
Worth it in the end though I suppose but it seems like there is a lot than can go wrong with all those delicate cables and such. -
Nice review man, good work.
-
thanks guys ill have the rest uploaded soon
-
Awesome video Moo, this will come in handy for sure.
I'm sure its floating around here somewhere, but what did you upgrade to? -
nothing .... just made a thermal paste guide ( i applied to much paste
)
-
exelente Moo +1 rep for your job.... can you upload the thermalpast video ? wath compound did you chose ? IDC 7 ?
-
OCZ freeze .. my CPU gets warm in intel burn mark ...65c @ 3.17 ghz\
i put to much and did not clean with rubbing alcohol ... bad job -
Thanks for the guide Moo!
I just bought an M17x with a P8600. I have an OCZ whitebook with a QX9300 which I'm gonna swap out.
I have a few tubes of Arctic Silver left over, should I use that or should I get an tube of OCZ Freeze?
Thanks again,
Akash -
I used AS5 as i have so much of it i wasnt about to go buy new paste and have used it for years without issue .
Temps are fine on my CPU. -
What do you guys use to monitor your temps and fan speeds?
-
HWmonitor and GPU-Z
nothing is good for fan speeds -
hwmonitor and/or everest
-
Really, if someone needs a guide on how to replace it, they probably shouldn't be attempting it in the first place. Unscrew, unplug, plug in, add paste, rescrew. It's not hard.
-
did you even watch the video ?
-
Lol ya its a tad more complicated then that haha.
You left out the part where you have to take apart the whole system to get to the CPU.
-
i had a little trouble.... just with the palm rest i didn't know @ first about the screws
-
hey, not everyone can do it one handed.
-
-
and that the reply isn't meant to be as ... well .. as it comes off....
Regardless of how many systems one has disassembled/reassembled, it seems ill-advised to discount a useful piece of info. . . Knowing where the hidden ribbon cable is lurking, or what screw is holding a panel on is not always obvious, even to one as highly skilled as yourself. Several of the steps Moo pointed out seem nice to know about ahead of time, and would not have been clear without a service manual.
Kudo's to the Moo for taking the time to produce the vid..
... now mine box is somewhere in the sky between memphis and phoenix, destined for delivery tomorrow... more than 2 weeks ahead of schedule . .. woot ! -
You're missing my point. IF you can't do it on your own without a guide telling you how, then you probably don't need to be trying it anyways.
I'm going to laugh when one of these idiots around here breaks something and then cries about it on here. I can already see the "Did I void my warranty?" questions. -
great vid moo =]
-
thanks guys i hope this helps more
-
Moo, I watched your vid again. I Guess if a SLI Config is applied, your cable should be in there aswell running n top of the magnesium cover. Is this one to be removed aswell, and would this be easy? I'm probebly replacing my CPU with an QX9300 when I get it. I do have two 260m's, so i'm curious? Thanks.
-
yea it will be there and it needs to be unplugged
double check with mandrake -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Hey dutchy I have 2 280m's and I just did it... all you need to do is unplug on of the SLI connectors un tape it and feed it through the magnesium cover when you pull it off...
-
Is it taped, just like the fragile mouse pad connector beneath the palmrest? So just loosen the tape gently and unplug it at one side, with another one of those brown switches on the connecter side? Or is it another sort of connector type? -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
No it is literally scoth taped into a groove that is made for the SLI cord... the SLI cord itself only rests very lightly in this groove so tape is necessary to keep it from moving around
-
just regular tape ... just these so the chord doesn't whiggle
-
Butters, did you tape it back after finishing your CPU upgrade and re-attaching the magnesium cover? Or is the tape still on the cable? Is it special tape btw? Seems the more answers I get, the more questions boil up...
-
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
Lol no just normal tape I just peeled the cord off with the tape and fed it through the hole where the second GPU is... becuase you only unnatach one side of the SLI cable, the other side can stay attached, after I installed my Qx9300 I simply stuck it right back on the magnesium cover and reattached the SLI cable to the second GPU
-
LOL thanks Butters and Moo. +rep. (sorry, Moo somehow I can't rep you again).
Now just wait untill this machine comes so I can open it up, I just can't wait. -
MrButterBiscuits ~Veritas Y Aequitas~
It's fantastic... my only advice is make sure you have a mouse for it
-
But seriously, is your mousepad out of order then, Is the cable that fragile?
Not that I use it a lot on my current laptop, but it would be a pitty if I broke it on my new machine.
