Exactly what I'm talking about. Someone who's so freaked out about tape and having to ask repeated questions about it should NOT be inside their laptop in the first place, let alone trying to change out anything.

    Wow, relax man...
I have been around PC's and laptops for all my life. And pulling them apart since, well... since my dad told me to put my new bought PCI soundblaster in the PC on my own, which wasn't on-board at that time... and afterwards setting DMA's and IRQ's etc. Hell, the thing just had single 40MB HDD! So don't judge people too quickly! :(

I'm not freaked out over tape, I am just asking about it, not to accidently break stuff whilst taking it apart. And like I already said "I do not have it jet" so I can't see the tape.
But thanks for the concern though!

    Dear Mr Moo,

I used the guide and updated my Notebook from P8600 to T9600.

No problem at all but I would not recommend this to anybody. It's really easy to destroy the little piece of plastic or to destroy a tiny cable.

During the video, you take off really fast the cables and honestly, if someone pull as fast without taking care of/knowing the lock system. He might break it...

I mean it's like SATA part, you get used to it and you plug/unplug and one day you see that the tiny plastic got broken and it's a hell to repair.

Anyway, huge thanks for all of this! It saved me a lot of time! + rep of course :)

Haha lol I used Moo's guide and I though it was fantastic... I didn't need it taking it apart however it really helped when I needed to backtrack and put it back together... now I could get it apart and put it back together in a matter of minutes... thanks Moo!

Awesome! Now if you do that to the GPU Change guide I might actually watch it lol. Downloading a 158MB Rar wasn't on my "to do" list unfortunately.

So, can I put in a quadcore 2.53 chip instead of my 2.8 core 2 duo? If I wanted that where do you suggest I should get it and for how much? btw I am in the UK.

Just a suggestion, but an additional video showing how you put it all back together would be helpful so we can easily follow along! :)

Also, I recall reading about a thermal paste video you mentioned, what is the link to that as well?

Thanks again Moo, you're a great help!

Great videos moo. And to the guy laughing with beginners, I hope you to have a problem soon so we can all come laugh at you. You gotta start somewhere and some people just have the need to take everything apart no matter the outcome. I am no computer technician but i wanted to know what it looks like on the inside and now i don't even have to take it apart to do that, thx moo. When is de HDD guide coming, i think the first thing i will do is replace my HDD with a SSD as soon as they are affordable.

Now just make a watercooling guide to it.

Thanks Moo for the video. How did everyone's CPU switch go? I'm looking to buy an m17x with the lowest processor and upgrading myself. Is it as straight foward and Moo's video? Has anyone experienced any problems?

My lord, that's a complicated change. Whereas on the M17 it's far simpler-unscrew back, unscrew CPU heatsink, remove CPU heatsink, unlock CPU, remove CPU. It took you about three or four times longer to do the same... :p

The cpu switch is just like in the video. But "straight forward" is relative, coming from an M17 this was not as easy as it could have been haha

As long as you take your time and are careful, all will go well.

Thanks for the great video! I'm buying an M17x soon (unless I'm blown away by the new M15x) and this video will be very helpful. Would I be able to purchase the M17x with the cheapest dual core processor and switch to the qx9300 without having to change anything else? Any other advice to a newbie that's looking to learn?

hey mr. moo, just wanted to say thanks for the great vid -- it was really helpful! i just replaced my p8600 w/ a qx9300.

one funny thing to note: after i had put humpty dumpty back together again, it wouldn't boot or even get to BIOS; the SCROLL and NUM keys just kept flashing... i figured if it was a problem w/ the processor, i couldn't do a whole lot but put my old 8600 back in, but i first wanted to recheck all of the connections. glad i did cause i think it was one of the connections to my motherboard that must've not been connected properly. it now boots fine :) and cpu-z/hwmonitor seem to check out. just wanted to mention it in case anyone else ran into something similar cause i was freaking out for a little bit there.

Look if you need a video how to put it back together after you just took it apart you dont need to take it apart in the first place.

Great guide, If I were to pickup the T9600, would I even have to do anything?
If I were to Overclock, will I need new thermal paste for the cpu?

And jesus, the alienware seems like a MAC when you want to upgrade anything ahah.
Wish it was simple, how does the Sager 9850 compare to this when it comes to upgrade something?

Almost worried to mess up, so I think I may want to get a higher end stuff..
I think I am going to go with the GTX 280 SLi instead of 260, what you think? Will it last a good 3 years?
    How about the processor?
If I feel incapable, do you know if usually computer places offer services to upgrade cpu and other things or no?

.... this is a laptop .... you're not going to expect it to be THAT easy?

I mean I have to say it's pretty darn easy compared to the M1730 they did a much better job of making the GPU's accessible.

And yes, if you can't put it back together after taking it apart, don't even bother!
