    Help!

Why on earth is there a downclocking problem with the new drivers? I can't run ANY other graphics driver than 165.01. If I do, it downclocks. I got told today that 167.43 would work... It didn't it still downclocks .

There must be a way to stop this!!!

Does it really? Because 167.43 works completely fine for me.

It's kind of odd because the Alienware stock drivers are the ones that downclock for me. Are you sure the 167.43 doesn't upclock correctly?

I did several tests on it awhile back and the methodology in which someone installs drivers should not really affect their clock speeds. It should be the driver versions that affect it-- but it's really odd how we're both using XP and yet you were able to get the Alienware stock drivers to work correctly and I wasn't, but on the other hand you weren't able to get 167.43 to work correctly, but I was.

This is interesting! If there was only some kind of lead so I can start looking into it.

Hmm, mind if I ask you a few questions?
    1. What version of XP are you running? Home or Professional?
    2. What service pack do you have installed for Windows?

If only I could figure out what sets my computer apart from yours. I'm sure it's definitely software related.

    1.) Home
    2.) SP2 - I need to upgrade :p

I don't know what monitoring software you use, but I use gpu=z so I'm using it as a comparison :p

Hmm! I'm currently using Windows XP Professional SP3.

Can you try updating to SP3?

Eh, working blindly at this point. For now, it's trial and error. If even that doesn't help the problem, it could just be the OS.
