There should be a plate on the bottom of the laptop with DEPLOYED: followed by the date of manufacture. Usually we tell AW apart by revisions, and that would tell you the revision. Other than that, If you want a specific Dell model # it would be on the original box, or receipt.

Given your CPU your revision is probably an AW R1 or R2

That's the Haswell model, with the GTX 780M, yeah? That's an R1, the 2013 model. Its predecessor was the Alienware M17x R4.

Definitely an Alienware 17 R1 (Ranger) based on the CPU. You own the last respectable 17-inch model of an Alienware notebook. Everything released since then is a BGA turdbook. Congrats.

Assuming you have a 17-inch model with single GPU. If that is the case, you have an Alienware 17 (Ranger) which was the last model sold before they went to BGA. The Alienware 17 (Ranger) and Alienware 18 (Viking) were 4th generation socketed Intel CPUs.

No problem. Glad to help. And, congratulations. You own one of the last two models (together with the 18) sold by Alienware that were actually great products.
