So it's only been a month and my Alienware m14x is littered with tiny little scratches and god knows how much dust behind the screen. I thought I could tough it out but it's getting a bit ridiculous. It's also ridiculous because the dust was already there when I unboxed it. The scratches are new and I have no idea how they get there seeing as I don't move the laptop around at all.

Dell support's been, well, supportive but they need pictures to decide if what I have is covered under my warranty.

So how the hell do I do this? The screen is so reflective it just looks like I'm taking a picture of a mirror. And with the screen on the camera is having a hard time getting dust and scratches I can see with my naked eye.

Turn on bright lights in the room with the laptop and take the picture from the side, the scratches should be more visible. Other than that idk what to do.

I found a couple of pictures of scratched LCD desktop monitors, perhaps taking it from similar angles you may be able to catch them :p

Thanks for the replies. I figured out that shining a strong flashlight at the screen on an angle illuminated it enough to get the details. Thank goodness for photography friends for the advice.

And Dell's agreed to replace the screen! Now I just need to arrange an appointment with a technician.
