I got my new toy last night and have spent the day getting used to the system and testing games out etc.

I will provide an in depth review in the next couple days!

First impressions are very favroable, here is the 3dmark 05 score I recorded out of the box with no tweaking:

    2700 3D marks

In short, this system plays the latest games very well and probably better than I expected.

    More details to come!

Sweet man....you need to put your specs in your sig. If you go into gaming and plan to tweak your comp, post your results in there. There is a 3dMark05 thread.

    Enjoy your uber lappy.

Very nice, the Go6600 256MB gets close to my 256MB X700. Impressive. :)

I hope everything works out for you, looking forward to more details. :)

I will hopefully have some time to give some details tonight...with pictures :)

Then I will want all of the "optimization" threads sent to me.

I have the latest video driver for my card from Alienware and of course they told me not to use other drivers since they havent been tested but I am open if there are some good ones out there that can get me another 100 3dmarks or so so I can beat Chaz hahah!

It's all about beating Chaz :)

I am hoping to do the same thing over my 3-day weekend. I haven't written my review yet, but I plan on doing so. I am anxious to read your review on the alienware. I was going to get that, but I decided on the Dell.

Heh...you have an advantage in the CPU area - I have the 1.86 and you have the 2.13. There's a thread on 3DMark05 in the Software forum - I posted my OC'ed score there. ;)

    heya all,

Just thought I'd throw in my 2 cents. about a month ago, I got the Area51 m7700 after drooling over the ads for these laptops for years and years. When it FINALLY got here and loaded games onto it. Wasn't disappointed in the least. The machine is blisteringly (is that a word?) fast! The graphix are fantastic and absolutely no problems overall with it (this includes graphix editing and such). If ya have any questions @ all about it, would be more than happy to answer (rave) some more. Laterz!

    Specs:

    3.8 Ghz processor
    3 GB RAM
GeForce Go 6800 Ultra w/ 256 MB RAM
    120GB 5400 RPM HD
LCD Display: 17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD Clearview Display

There is one other in the same forum I read and the user had put up high quality pics. you may find more on the net, but unfortnately i have better things to do than hunt the Alien disasters... there are too many that even with a dedication one won't keep up ;)

Anyway, congratulations on your 5 working Aliens!!!

If this thread catches fire, I'll put it out ;) But seriously, we'd all appreciate it if this was kept civilized. I've seen threads like this go bezerk.

Nothing is wrong so far, so as long as a decent conversation is going on, I have no problems at all. :)

my point exactly... you only remember the bad stories... never the good ones... the same thing happens with Dells, Toshibas, HPs, Compaqs, VooDoos, etc... for some reason the label is put on Alienware...

I've purchased five Alienware systems, and dealt with their support a few times. None of my machines has caught fire, and they're all still running quite well actually...

I'm curious, I've seen many strings here that are nothing but flames aimed at Alienware, so why are you concerned about a string of positive experiences?

I was beginning to wonder if posts about positive experiences with Alienware were allowed here.

Pardon? I'm not concerned with positive experiences, or bad ones. As long as this thread stays 'civilized' and what I mean by that is:
    -No cursing/language/swearing
    -No attacking other users/personal comments
    -Stays on-topic

    ...then it can stay open.

Nobody ever said you couldn't make a positive thread, and no one ever will.
