Where do i find if my computer has SLI GTX 280M ? I looked in Nvidia Control Panel it only reports 9400 video card. I am running in max powermode.

On my Desktop i would see SLI options as well as Phsyx options but on my laptop i dont see these options at all in nvidia control panel. My laptop was bought with GTX280M SLI

did you make any changes in your bios ?

    i think its function f7

read the keys and see which one it is...thats weird...is it in a different mode...command center ...i would check it all...

Off the top of my head - it could be one or more of the following :

Check the Hybrid Graphics options in the BIOS (although installing McAfee or Updates shouldn't have done this) Check your manual for the difference between each of the settings. Some force Discrete Graphics on, others allow Hybrid & Discrete. (Also there is a new BIOS A01 available but remember to re-enable any RAID settings after if you have this configured first).
This one caught me out - Are you in Stealth Mode by any chance? It's the top-right touch-button on your M17x that looks like a tachometer. When enabled, you should see it saying Full Power when you toggle it. This is separate to the Power Plan (High Performance).
Check your graphics driver. Only 186.xx onwards support Hybrid configurations. I think the best one for now is 186.12 which is on the Dell site.
Try this first and see if your icon re-appears. Hybrid gfx is clever in principle, but not as clever in execution it seems (at least for now).

that happen to me ones you need to make sure your power brick is connected if you running on battery automatic disables the 280's if this don't solve the problem start the laptop and go in the bios screen on graphic settings enable your cards save and exit :)

As bent said, it's likely you're in Stealth Mode. Follow his advice and try pressing the little blue touch button on the far right of the touch strip. A popup box should display asking if you want to disable stealth mode.

Also, as witcher said if you start the laptop without the power brick connected the SLI card is disabled.

Actually I would do the opposite to force the system to use the 280s.

Yeah to me Mcafee is a big brother virus - a virus that takes over your pc lags the hell out of you. Spies on you, collects your info, then sell it to advertising companies. It's a pot calling a kettle black.

Make sure your power is plugged in before starting up your computer. FN = f7 should enable it too if its disabled.

    Avira.

Although let's not get into a debate about AV software here.....
