I found a QX9100 @ 150 euro
I currently have a T9600 installed. Is this worth thinking about? I believe it is, 150 is not much and it is new because it was not compatible with his laptop

Is it alot of work to change a cpu. ive seen moo0s video but i mean afterwards. drivers and stuff like that -
Q9100 quad-core or X9100 dual-core?
There's no QX9100 extreme quad-core. -

lol i just saw it im writing the x sorry bad habit it the Q900 series
But im doubting because at the moment i am more then happy with this setup. but this just seems like a good deal -
Is it an OEM, or is it an Engineering Sample/Quality Sample?
-

Im not sure what that means but its a part thats ordered seperatly
-
OEM and Retail Boxed are the official released revisions of the CPU that get sold to the public. ES and QS are samples that CPU makers hand out before official release for testing and aren't supposed to be sold to users. They're legally property of Intel.
Not to say you shouldn't buy an ES or QS because for that price it's still not a bad deal. It's just some sample versions are better than others....and if you ever have to send in your M17x for service you're probably not going to want to leave the CPU in there.
Where did the person you're buying the CPU from order it from? -
Are u sure this is an OEM and not an ES (EngineeringSample)? This would explain the price... I bought a QX9300 OEM for €335 (but it was second hand), nothing wrong with it Though and I live in the Netherlands.
About the ES part, I never heard anything wrong with them, except there not completly legal. They aren't ment for retail that's all. -
he is talking euros i think guys... if so thats pricey..

+1 rep says the QX9100 does not have unlocked multipliers.

But im not buying it, i want the QX9300 or nothing else -
look up shirleyfu1117 on ebay.
She offers a Q9200 (which DOES have unlocked multis - extreme) for around 180 euros if your smart and do the best offer option.
Same for Qx9300, you can get that at as low as 320 euros, also from shirley
Just type the processor name as above into ebay search and sort by lowest price. In UK she may be at the bottom as an "international seller".
If you dont intend to overclock, I suggest the cheaper of the 2 Q9200s, which she sells at 165 euros. (it's C0 stepping vs the more expensive Q9200 with E0. E0 means it will run slightly cooler under the pressure of overclocking)
As a note, she also sell the X9100 dual core for a good deal. -

thx for the tip. i think i already ran into her before.
-
Be careful with the stepping; I really recommend making sure it has temp. sensors before buying it. There is a thread buried in the hardware section of the forum describing the steppings for Q9200 and Q9100 ES CPU's.

Yeah I agree Shirley is great, had a dud my first time buying, he refunded me the full amount no problem, I was so happy with his niceness and helpfulness I have to recommend him.
I have nothing but good things to say, you wont be disappointed. -
