My M17X order is supposed to be shipped today. However, it is still showing in production on the website. So I called their customer service. Luckily, this time a true English speaker, instead of an Indian, picked up the phone. I complaint about the situation, and he told me that it was delayed to April.
Delayed without a notice!
I start to question the production capability of Dell recently.
How I wish Alienware is taken over by Lenovo.
-
Isn't April like two days away?
-
lol, I think 1 and a half actually.
-
The new delivery date is April 9th... It is supposed to be delivered this Friday.
Instead, I will have nothing to do this Easter but hanging around at the empty beach of Galveston. -
You got off easy. I spent almost a week trying to get my order straight and when it was finally emailed to me, the salesman had downgraded one of the key components (RGB LED
) and added a bunch of unnecessary warranty charges. I called them and they said they couldn't help me straighten it out and I'd have to wait two business days. I'm trying to find another phone number to call, someone needs to get an earful...
-
I don't have the luxury to wait. My plan for the summer is to go back home in Shanghai, which means leaving the states in late April. The tickets are already booked, so I cannot afford another delay.
-
everything will work out...
-
Cancel your order I guess.
-
LOL.
Go to slickdeals.net and search for all Lenovo threads. 90% of orders get cancelled/delayed. -
I have six Thinkpads. At least my experience with IBM/Lenovo is way more satisfying than with Dell/Alienware.
-
you have 6 thinkpads and 2 alienware notebooks?
why do you need 8 computers?
EDIT: well, 7 computers, i see you sold one of the alienware computers. -
First of all it's a popular system and it's more rare not to have a delay or two to be honest. Second there is a world-wide parts shortage right now that is also slowing things down. I know waiting can be a pain but it's worth it in the end. I had to wait nearly 5 months and 3 systems (the 2 bad were R1, the R2 is fine) before I was a happy customer.
-
I just don't throw old laptops away, and keep them as spares.

I think you have been very lucky i have been waiting 3 months 16 days and i dont have an order number yet!
-
WHy and how are we comparing Mediocre Business Laptops (Lenovo) With high end gaming laptops? I mean the average price of a m17x R2 is like TWICE that of a Lenovo. It's like comparing Ferrari's to Corvettes.
"Damn if GM and taken over Ferrari I would have had my Ferrari by now, and they would have drove their Truck to my house and drop off the ferrari on my driveway with the keys." -
Oh the tragedy.
-
Dude, Lenovo sells the Thinkpad T400s 2815H16 for 37,599 RMB right now in China, which converts to 5,500 USD.
You don't know about China. -
Ok so??? Your Point is what? THat a m17x-R2 will sell for 10,000 USD through conversions?? I don't know about China? I know this much about China, it's a RipOff for Garbage, I'd rather go to Japan and get ripped off, cause at least I'd probably enjoy myself more. Again how are you comparing Lenovo's to ALienwares? You're going to tell me that through a money conversion that they're the same thing? Horrid is all I have to say to about this $5,000 Lenovo you speak of, just horrid. http://www.google.com/products?q=Lenovo+t400&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=xXSyS_6aDYG0lQebp4nUBA&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CCkQrQQwAg

Look at these Amazing Specs http://huajianjun.en.alibaba.com/product/262970127-209552183/Laptops_ThinkPad_T400s_2815H16.html
-
are you saying dell is ferrari? lol
-
That is your problem. I am just saying, buying an Alienware costs the same as buying a Thinkpad in China. But the experience with Dell is horrible.
BTW, you are showing me T400, not T400s. -
I am pretty sure that he does not know Fiat owns Ferrari, in which case the parent company also produces crappy cars.
-
Oh I'm sorry here http://www.google.com/products?hl=en&q=t400s&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=GneyS4LpLcOqlAes-biaBQ&sa=X&oi=product_result_group&ct=title&resnum=3&ved=0CCIQrQQwAg
I'm basically saying high PC's have high End Parts like high end cars, and you're comparing Medicore PC's with Mediocre's components to a High end PC. But I guess that doesn't mean anything in China. -
Since when is dell high end?
I'd just think that every company has it's moments, good and bad...
-
Never order from Dell if you need it by a certain date. You should know better
-
Dell may not be high-end and is likely more mainstream.
AW however has always been known to be the "ferrari" of computer manufacturers. -
Dell covers all range of computers from the low to the very high end.
Low: netbooks and inspirons
Midrange: studio + xps
High: Alienware + Precision series
For the last several years, I haven't liked any other company's notebooks besides Dell. If the M17x didn't exist, I'd probably have bought a Clevo or Asus G73 (as much as I hate Asus the alternatives aren't exactly numerous). -
Why did you even order an Alienware m17x? I mean if you don't believe that your PC has high end components, and you're just spending close to 2 grand or more for your PC, and also seeing as how you're a Big Lenovo user, it seems to me that you don't need half the power of the m17x-r2, and thus you're just wasting your money away. You should have just gotten another t400s for like half the price, and you would have gotten it much sooner me thinks.
-
Never order from anyone
-
Well, it appears that last 2 generations of M17X are not to be included into a category of high-end pcs with high-end parts. The R1 had audio/video stuttering (many mainstream notebooks don't have it) that is still not 100% resolved. For more than half a year most customers had a paper weight instead of powerful gaming rigs.
Look into the R2 owners thread and see how many newly received systems (including mine
) have faulty secondary GPUs. You can blame AMD or Dell, or both, but in the end
you'll be spending those hours on phone with imbeciles regardless of your religion or faith. Welcome to the globalization and havoc.

Er....Phail...
Fiat produce excellent cars...one of the few companies beating the recession, that's WHY they own Ferrari and Maserati and all the rest, oh, and the produce one of the most popular cars in Europe at the moment, which is also what Michael Schumacher drives as his personal vehicle...the Fiat 500 -
No offense to Italians and with all due respect, but Fiat happens to be the only auto giant that has been driven out of the Chinese market, where people complain about their quality all the time.
I love Maserati and Ferrari, but only because they are not produced in the way Fiats are.
I hate Dell!
