I e-mailed Alienware, but didn't got an answer on this matter, so I'll post it here, maybe someone can give me one. I am going to quote myself.
"I am interested in your collect & return policy regarding the Alienware M15x laptop. If I were to buy this laptop in a European country (that is a member of the European Union) then move to another country (which is also a member) would that affect the collect & return policy (meaning will I have to pay for both-way shipping)?
I have read the document which states all the warranty terms, but I haven't actually understood whether it covers moving from one country to another.
I am also interested in the price I will have to pay to upgrade the warranty if I will chose the standard 1 year collect & return warranty. Will the price be the same as the one I have to pay right now to upgrade from let's say 1 year to 2 years of warranty?"
In addition to that I'm interested in how easy is to change the RAM & HDD (I know how to do it, but wondering if it's easy or not), since their upgrades are too expensive to get when buying the laptop and if I am going to buy one I cannot wait to get it, order the upgrades, send it back and get the upgrades for a smaller price.
Out of curiosity, has anyone here got a M15x with a 8600M GT? I'm thinking about not wasting money on a gaming card, since I don't game at all.
Hopefully I'll get an answer from Alienware, but who knows...maybe they're too busy trying to fix the M15x.
PS: Just remembered...is that Alienware Backpack any good?

I can answer the RAM & HDD question, it is easy to change them, just take a look at the list i compiled, i thought it might be useful...

The HDD's are under a plate, undoo the screws, and you can then remove the HDd and replace with a bigger one...
The question of waranty is a very valid one, people moving house etc. need to know if it covers the machine, no matter what country or address you are at, so long as you can get to AW i'm guessing...
Good luck

If you are not gaming. You can get the m1530. It's cheaper too. But, if you like the lights. The upgrades are cheaper afterwards since you can also apply a 15% discount on your later purchases. -

I agree with bhattsan, I would get the M1530 from Dell if I wasnt gaming.

I don't like the Dell. I was considering this one because of the collect & return warranty and because I can get a better video card (a 8700M GT, 8800M GTX) if I want to, a smart bay (useful to have two HDDs) and a keyboard with lighting (useful during the night, plus it may entertain me
). Anyway, a similar Dell isn't too far off the price, so I don't care about that.
Anyway, this thread wasn't about what I want, it's mainly about the warranty.
I have some questions
