Well after a year of having it, I've had to send it back twice, and got them to send me a gpu (overheating). Still overheating, will easily hit 100 degrees, no problems. Hinge is slwoly opening (like before). It has a music problem, when theres a few programs over, and i switch quickly it will jolt the music.
I have another problem, when i plug it in with my charger, if I am listening through my music system it will have a huge loud output noise like a huge HISS. It's horrible and makes music unplayable when the laptop is plugged in. Oddly enough, when I plug my ipod in to charge (when its playing music through my speakers) it will also make a hiss. Very very very strange.
What are my chances of being upgraded to the new M15X (same price as my old one)?

Worked for another member here and was contacted by some higher-up in Miami.

    Worth a shot, IMO.

I love how old systems just seem to break after the new systems come out.

Try doing a reformat, and install.

PS. I like the new avatar Sleey0.

Are you still under warranty?? If so, they will most likely want you to send it in so they they can fix. Get them this last chance. But, you have to be straight with them. Tell them givthat this is the last time that they areen a chance, and also demand the replacement laptop as an alternative. You got to be patient though.

If they do give him credit, assuming that he gets that far, if will pay for however much that he spent on the original m15x. If he upgrades over the original credit given, of course, he'll have to pay. That's what happened to my previous m5550.

If they give him credit, they should take into account depreciation. You can't just ues something for a year and expect someone else to foot the bill, we don't like when companies are dishonest with us, we shouldn't be dishonest with them.

The m15x might have a few flaws, but other than that it is a great machine. And when problems arise, from my experience, AW is more than happy to fix them. So far all my dealings with AWs customer Service has been great, they are A+.

I agree with that, you should get a decent compensation towards the newer model if you choose to go that way but though they have not been successful they have tried to get you a solution that you have used for a while, good luck!

They didn't take that into consideration when I got credited for my m5550. I got exactly the same amount of credit equal to the amount of money I spent on it. They didn't give me a money refund. But, you have to let them try to fix your laptop though. I sent my m5550 in for 3 times, and the last time it was at the repair depot for a month! That's when I called in and got the credit for the new one. They figured, that they were just out of luck with repairs on it... And now I got an awesome m15x, which I don't regret at all! :)

Yeah thats understandable if they have it for a month, you figure your time cost money, and time without your laptop is your time.

That's why I love the Alienware Customer service. I don't know what it's like now, though, with the Dell influence. They also go far to help customers who have been out of warranty too.

I was told that if I couldn't get an 8800 GTX, they would give me a better replacement ;)

    Hello,

As I understand You, I can refund my m15x buyed about year ago in about september, and they refund me for new version of m15x? I don't think so, why they should take old versions of his products and then refund You for example 75% of new m15x?

PS. In UK that method is possible?

    Best regards,
    Largo

Only if the old one is defective and they cannot repair it. AND if you are in warranty (unless the repair process has taken significant time off your warranty period).

Yes, it is exactly what Konig said. Only if they can't repair your laptop no matter how times that they try and the warranty time period to plays an important role. Basically, if you are just trying to get a new laptop by dishonesty, then you aren't going to get it!

So then, all you have to do is open close open close open close your lid a few hundred times, hinge is bound to crack, send it back, get it again and repeat step one, and sending it in 5 times, your sure to get an upgrade... haha

Perhaps if the AP m15x had smart bay I would want it, but that is one of the main reasons I got this m15x, I like going 5 hours atleast, with out having to charge.

    Smartbay FTW.

lol. It only it were that easy...Just sending it in after a second time is already a pain for the consumer. You are superman if you have the patience for a 5 try. Or, maybe they will figure out that you are doing it with the intent of a new lappy, and will intentionally try to screw you over.

And I second that, Smartbay is awesome, too bad it's not on the new one. I can go a whole day of classes without charging, and still have juice. If I got another smartbay battery it would be even longer battery life!

Hey sorry to tell you this but they wont upgrade you to a new m15x.

I had problems with my 1st and 2nd m15x and when they offered me to upgrade to the M17 for the 2nd one when it was a POS, I asked to get the new m17x but they said they couldn't do it because it was a dell computer and not an alienware one.... I'm aware that dell owns alienware but apparently they cant shift the money or something?

At least this is what they told me... and seeing as how the m17 they gave me is more expensive than the m17x they could have given me, I'm gonna believe the guy.

Dell and Alienware are still separated it seems. Even if Dell ''owns'' Alienware...
