yeah i may be in for this myself. i have everything i need sitting here for it so i would take the base config and only add 280 sli and the wuxga screen. i have the qx9300 and hdd's etc sitting here.. ill wait till some recieve them though and see how well they are built ill bet they are tanks if they are like the 1730 was..
silver will actually show a lot less than the black will since the black turns out not to be matte after all it says clearly anodized aluminum black will be the fingerprint king this time for sure..

NEVER EVER EVER USE WINDEX on screens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ive personally seen it ruin many of them. microfiber and lightly damp is all you want to do nothing more
-
I've never trolled their forum like they have ours. I can only hope that the Sager/Clevo rigs cost more! Plain brown wrapper style and a higher price? Oh yeah!
-
Hi Zfactor,
It's been a while since I've seen you last. I forgot to mention that avoiding an alcohol/ammonia based windex is essential. If in doubt, always stay away from the chemicals like most have mentioned.

C'mon now lets not turn this into a bash Clevo thread, they have served a lot of people well while Alienware (before Dell took over) was churning out overpriced low quality systems, Clevo gave a lot of price performance enthusiasts a place to go when they needed high power at an affordable cost albeit shipped in a plain brown box with nothing special in the way of design lol.
Hopefully now that Dell has seemingly taken control of Alienware's sub par R&D/design and technical department, we will see better looking better built Alienware's with a lower more competitive cost and better (transferable) warranties... Things are looking very good ATM for Dell/Alienware and us

i cant agree with everything you are saying here. AW did just fine and offered awesome gaming systems that performed very well for a number of people. they are not low quality at all.
as said before, each company has units that are not up to task...from automobiles, to furniture..there will always be stuff that goes wrong...it is an imperfect world.
in fact, when the units competing against the m15x came out, several owners returned them for faults, issues, heat and what not just as several did for the m15x.
if you look though, AW owners do not go and bash other competitors just for the sake of doing it. i as an AW owner do not and will not denounce another person choice of laptop just because they chose clevo or sager or GW over my choice of brand.
while i see several good things with the take over of AW from dell, i also see some bad. as with the new m17x to be sold, you are not allowed a choice of "NO" install for antivirus...this is not something AW used to do and did not do. i do not like preinstalled junk like that...if i want it, i will order it, but dont force me to have no choice...AW was the best in the biz for ZERO bloatware and now it seems to be going the opposite way.

I know what you mean about the bloatware, no one likes that, it sux to buy a laptop only to have to spend the time to uninstall the crap a company forces down our throats, but perhaps that's how dell is able to put out such a competitive price for the new m17x.. if that is the case, then I for one can deal with it to have a lower priced laptop. -
I wasn't bashing Clevo or Sager at all. I was however referring to a few Sager/Clevo owners who have enjoyed trolling in the A.W. forum just to flame on A.W.

Wow, after configuring one. I could have gotten the same specs as my M17 for the same price but I would have gotten:
260M GTX SLI and a 250 GB HD as opposed to 160 GB.
And a better look too.
Should I be sad right now?

Assuming you took care of your systems you could always eBay it and let it go for a bit cheaper to get the newer model? This is what I always do with my iPods and cell phones and it seems to work well.
-
LOL, only problem is I'm 16.

as someone who bought the m15x the month it came out... i'd recommend not buying it for at least 3 months.
For the same specs as my m15x (give or take), I'd spend $1,000 less than if I ordered now.
Technology always goes down in price.
I just order my new m17x (Allpowerful)
