Hi i was wondering i have had dell products for like 8 years now
    i have a dell xps m1530
    that has the t9300 processor
and it got damaged so then dell decided they would send me a replacment system
so they send another xps1530 refusbished was not happy with that so i called and complained took them 2 weeks to decide what they where going to do
so in the 2 weeks i saw the M15X for 1499 plus 200 in free upgrades so i bought hte m15x with the i720 i only got the basic 512 vid card i dondt do alot of gaming and i might get into wow but not sure if i will or not
    here is the thing
they just shiped out my system on friday
and today they shiped out the replacment system
i found out that the replacment system
they are sending me a new studio XPS 16 to replace the m1530
so now i have this xps 16 they are sending it has the t9900 2 dou in it and
it has 6 gig's of ddr3 1067 fsb and a 500 gig HD with a free fall sensor

is that system better then the

m15x that im gettign that has the i720qm with 320 gig hd and a 512 vid card and 4 gigs of DDR3 1333

im still a bit confused about the i720qm is it better then the t9900
i see the i720 in tubo mode goes to 2.8 and is 1.6 without turbo mode
the t9900 is 3.0 wich prosesor is better
    will i really notice it
    im confused here and all
what would you guys do return the m15x
    and keep the xps 16

or would you keep the xps 16 and sell it and keep the m15x to use

im just trying ot decide what to do here
    Thank you

    No you did not!

The m15x is no longer in production.

For your uses, there is probably no discernable performance difference between the T9900 and the 720QM. Keep whichever one you prefer. Obviously the M15x is the much stronger gaming system (assuming you got it with the GTX 260M).

will i notice any difrantce between the t9900 and the i720qm if i am not doing alot of gaming and
if i do get into gaming will i notice a difrance
also is the 6 gigs of 1067 better then the 4 gigs of 1333 or would the 4 gigs be better then the 6 gigs

Panda is playing games with you nothing to get upset about.

All he is pointing out is that the "m15x" with the lower case "m" was/is an older AW model, which is no longer in production. The "M15x" with the upper case "M" is the newest/current AW model.

im going to sell it see if maybe i can sell it for 700 or so i know it sound cheap
but its only got 1 month left on the warranty so i donty think i could sell if for more then that
but atleast if i get that then i can pay off my m15x a little faster

what is the fsb on the i720 is that like 800 or 1066 i have not been able to find that info and iv seerached around for it for some reason i cant figure or find that out

im still confused i don't exactly understand so is the i720 faster then the t9900 or is the t9900 fast erbut jsut less cores so id dodnest seem fast im really confsued thank you

There is no such thing as a Front Side Bus on the Core i architecture. The memory controller is on die.

The Core i7 is roughly 20% faster clock for clock than the Core 2s, so comparing a 720QM vs a T9900, you are looking at faster single threaded performance, similar dual threaded performance, and faster multi-threaded performance.

ah cool thank you i am starting to understand a little better now
    thank you

now i know i have had some friends tell me that im a fool for getting the system i did and not going iwth the 1 gig 260 but only getting the 512 240 i think thats it
if im not into major gaming am i missing out on anyting i know that it is faster then the 256 that im using now
i want to try to get into WOW or see what other games are out there
but just could not bring myself ot spend 2000 on a systme jsut yet
so i maxed my limit of 1400 to almsot 1600 after taxes
so did i do the right thing i hope so

    with the 512

No the 240m can play crysis so you don't have much to worry about.

It can play any game out :)

    It overclocks itself

also use a display port adapter or VGA ;)

and if it was so 80's we wouldn't use it ;)
