sorry man I can't help you out. If I knew where to find all of that info I would look but unfortunately I don't. You might want to PM a M17x user.

Since it's clearly a different model, it's clearly a different display. the difference? probably not a whole heck of a lot.

I'd think the display for the m17x is better just simply because it's newer. They didn't use the exact same model, and thus there must be at least a slight difference....

    who knows?

One thing I think we need to give the person is the make of the laptop the OEM. I dont think M17X is the same make model. So I think we need to post facts for this guy.

It like going this model only use AMD cpu and it running Intel.

Please dont give this guy false hopes.

Atol: All I can say is that tropics is WAYYYYY overly concerned about his visual experience with his potential computer.

frankly, most people don't see the colour difference between most current LCDs and CRTs (but there is a difference)... I doubt many people notice the difference between standard LCD and LED-backlit LCD (unless they're placed side-by-side)...

... so to be frank, who really cares which display panel AW decided to use, as long as the response rate is fairly high and the colours are fairly accurate (as they are), then everything should be good-to-go!

Edit: and by high response rate, I mean fast... thus smaller numbers on the speed thing.

Eh, I understand your point, but when you're shelling out massive bucks for something, you want to make sure it's top of the line.

I understand that, but no matter how much you pay, there is never going to be a perfect laptop. it just doesn't exist.

If he really wants a good display, he could always buy one of the sony xbrite screens from ebay and hope the mountings are the same :p (it'd probably use less power too)

Well thank you guys very much for all your help & info, i think i have my answer which is that the lg screen that i have on my m1730 is not the same as AWs lg screen on the m17x.

THANK GOD, cuz i see a little fuzzy & grainy on white background like google
on my m173, & i was so scared that if i got the m17x and the screen looked the same, then would have lost out on my m1730 big time!

I can honestly say that I've never heard of anyone with that problem. especially with a digital flat panel.

maybe it's a loose connector? who knows.

Then you never had a look into the Dell forum! That's the number 1 problem on all of the XPS line. They simply use bad quality screens.

I don't have hands-on experience with dells XPS's yet either. my friends all own Acer, Toshiba, Compaq.... no Dells.

... well, my girlfriend has a dell, but not an XPS... she doesn't do enough to warrant that kinda power.
