Hey, okay so my password for my HDD got corrupted (BOOT) and now it wont work at all.
I want the fastest hard drive possible for the upgrade, so which one is it?
NOT SSD. I heard there was a 10k rpm hdd somewhere?
Thanks
-
check newegg for the drives.
they even have a few 15k rpm versions... -
I can't, I live in the UK.
-
They have 15k LAPTOP HDD's :O. Tell me where to get one of these bad bois!
-
nvm....i can only locate 7200rpm versions for 2.5 fits.
you may want to consider SSD then if your looking to boost the speed. (i know you said no SSD though)
i thought i had seen higher rpm drives for laptops at some point.
my mistake, i was probably thinking of external drives for the unit. -
Nah I'm pretty sure I've seen a 10k rpm drive before. Can't find it now though :S. And SSD's are way out of my £100 budget
I found the 10k HDD:
www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822116084
But it wont fit in laptop's -
take a look here... webpage for 15k 2.5 drives
not sure if any of these places can ship to you there.... -
I wonder how noisy that thing is!? -
good luck with that
server HD there -
-
Someone did it on NBR before for the sake of it (and had the parts laying around), they needed some funky adapter (which they had) for it to fit. It kills battery life pretty nicely.
-
Okay so looking away from the higher rpm's. Back to the sub-standard 7200rpm. Which is the best out of these? I want min of 320gb
-
i thought it said server as well, but figured maybe you could put one in...
thought of heat, but never pwr draw...
but pwr blocks are pretty efficient and better then they used to be.... -
Im not surpriesed, 8w power draw :O thats more than my gpu draws!
-
Yeah those are SAS drives. This is a 2.5" hard disk inside of a 3.5" heatsink. LINK
Who knows if this is modifiable. -
Just get a Scorpion
-
The Moo, I'd oredered the scorpion black 320gb. They cancelled my order tho, so I thought I would have another look to see if there was better ones
-
Back on topic, the 500GB 7200rpm seagate drive (7200.4) is pretty speedy, but it does draw abit of power.
The WD50000BEVT should be just as fast as you dead drive in most cases. -
It only has a 8mb cache :S
-
>.<'' Go look at real practical test results at tom's hardware. Numbers on paper means nothing!
(at the end of the day I am in the Alienware forum I guess...oh crap I am going to get jumped on now)
-
I want to know the best HDD for the m15x
