So I was out shopping with my friend at Frys and saw that they were now selling alienware laptops and desktops.
They had the M17x and M15x on display in the laptop section and the Area-51 as well as the basic desktop. The Area-51 was hooked up to a triple monitor setup that cost $1800 for the monitor setup alone! It was a beautiful system, my mouth was hanging open at the mere sight of it![]()
Then when I was walking past the M17x this guy (another customer) asks me why the laptop is so thick. So I explain to him about the cooling system and then he says you don't need this for gaming all you have to do is get a PS3. So I say not for real games like World of Warcraft and Starcraft and then he says "and what's up with these lights (on the M17x)" so I say "ain't it cool" and then says" it's all a lie", so I say "yep I bought into it"....so he goes off mubling about it being a lie...I think he was jealous that I owned one, lol![]()

Well if the guy doesn't game much on a PC, I'd doubt that he would see the value of such a machine. To him, it's just a heavy laptop with pretty lights.

The lights on the M17x aren't even 'pretty' decorations, it's standard for a laptop to have a backlit keyboard and trackpad and certainly useful...
People are like this though. They get angry at the things they can't have or don't understand. Try explaining why a $2,000 Nikon DSLR camera is better than the "10MP camera I have in my pocket that's 10x smaller and weighs 10x less" all day, and that's what it feels like to be in retail. I did it for years. -
People are ignorant to what they don't understand or want to understand. Human nature really. Well done jamming the Alienware awesomeness into his face, good chuckle.
I would LOVE to see more better quality of systems in stores. I got to Futureshop, Staples, Radioshack, Walmart, lots of typical retail outlets, TigerDirect once as well. And they ALWAYS have these gutless systems a typical end user or CEO would want.
I would love to be able to see at least one of the really nice Sagers, Alienware, Asus, MSI etc. systems in the flesh before purchase. Instead all I see is HP, Acer and Gateway etc. machines and they're all built crappy. Flex like a DVD case and feel about as solid as one too.

Nevermind I when I took a photo of the moon, with both my old point and shoot and my DSLR, the detail on the DSLR was so much better... -
Why would anyone need a Ferrari when we have Hyundai?

Lol, I fish with vintage and new bamboo fly rods, my laptop is an M17x, my PC a Studio XPS 435T/9000 with a 37" Vizio HDTV for a monitor and a Bose Surround Sound System, I drive an Accord Crosstour EX-L with Navigation, backup camera, voice recognition and my cameras are Nikon's, a D3 and D3x, I love my life.....

This evening we had our fantasy football draft using my M17x and M11x and you should have heard all that oooh's and aaaahhhhh's lol. One guy says, "and you can game on the M11x too??"
Another guy says "wow how big is that screen (M17x)
!?" They were all (13 of them) duly impressed

I have both an M17x and an M11x. My hubby who has an HP desktop said, "Why can't you bring them both when we go on trips?" I said, "I only need the M11x. I can game on it and write my novels." Hubby said, "Well I can't!" LOL. I was going to get him an Aurora for his birthday in January but I might end up getting him an M17X instead.
I was shopping at the Frys in Renton yesterday and saw!!
