Ok. So the Red finally appeared and I can't hold out any longer :D

I found an evalue code and got the following specs:

    -- System Color --
-- Nebula Red - Special Edition – Anodized Aluminum
    -- [224-5966]
    -----------------------
    -- Processor --
    -- Intel® Core™2 Quad Q9000 2.0GHz (6MB Cache, 1066MHz FSB)
    -- [317-0820]
    -----------------------
    -- Memory --
    -- 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 at 1066MHz
    -- [317-0856]
    -----------------------
    -- LCD --
    -- 17-inch WideUXGA 1920x1200 (1200p)
    -- [320-8140]
    -----------------------
    -- Video Card --
    -- Dual NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 280M, 2GB – SLI® Enabled
    -- [320-0762]
    -----------------------
    -- Hard Drive --
    -- 320GB - 2x 160GB 7,200RPM - RAID 0
    -- [341-0009]
    -----------------------

    Everything else standard (warranty, etc).

Got it for a grand Total of: $2,557.41 w/ NBD shipping.

So, was this a pretty good deal? I am probably going to sell the Q9000 for something else. I figure I can get about $300 for it, right?

    Any comments welcome...

And now, I wait AGAIN! lol

    I thought so too.

The M17x I returned had a P8600, SLI 260's, WXGA, and the same RAID array and I paid $2075 total.

The new July e-value code is a steal, IMO. :D

Yes, great deal, with the Sam's club deal and the new promo I'm finding it harder and harder to wait myself. Just a question, thought you were gonna hold out for the ATI cards? Really looking forward to pics of the red chassis and your tinfoil hat, I'm sure it'll be tastefully done :)

I figure that my order will take about 3 weeks to ship. If there is any news of either the ATI cards or the m15x refresh then I might cancel this order if I see something I like.

I miss my M17x, really. I loved it and didn't want to part with it but I am glad I did. I just got a much better deal than my last order so patience paid off :D

Besides, if the ATI cards do become available soon I could always sell a pair of 280's....

In fact, my order would have been $100 cheaper if I didn't pick it. So the system I got could have been ~$2450 :D

You can. Tell them your computer overheats etc. My initial one had a bad wireless card and instead of replacing the card, I asked for a new system and I also got a $150 discount. My setup came to $2200ish to me. It had the SLI 280m gtx, wuxga, P8600, 250gb hdd. I believe the price I got is pretty good since after tax the Sam's club one gets to $2300 and it has the sli 260m.

You could keep you current hdd space.

Ok, the e-value code gives you a certain config that is discounted. You don't have to keep it the same although there are less options.

Try for yourself... Go here for the config I started with.

haha... my guess is I wont, becuase I'll probably fall in love with my black one... and red may be too flashy for college... plus I want to see how it really looks as it might appear quite a bit thicker due the color... and all my extra equipment I bought matches the black one ;) lol

Not a bad deal. $100 cheaper than if you spec it with the P8600 on Dell Home site and you also get a 7% discount at the checkout.

How long does that offer last?

If I don't like the red (and I think I'll love it) then I'll send it back and wait AGAIN!

    LOL

I am not 100% sure but I think e-value codes last quite a while. It is just a Dell pre-configured configuration that you can start with instead of the base.

With a Q9000 and the rest of the specs I want it comes out to $2644.89 after taxes + S&H. Plus $520 for Shirley's QX9300 QGNG on eBay and you get $3164.

But for $236 more I can a QX9300 from AW with this deal for $3400.81.

$236 isn't really a lot to pay to have my CPU covered under a Complete Care warranty....especially as it may get harder and harder to find ES sample CPUs.

you're a very, very, very, very brave man Sleey0!!!!

I love the look of the Nebula one - especially coupled with the Red AlienFX lighting..however, i think the red restricts the colour matching you can do a bit..

that being said, i'd have been happy with keeping the lighting to red :)

Good luck!! keep us posted! and, we want pics too!! don't forget!
