While in the dark I just noticed some light leak on the top part of the screen... Its not easily noticeable or bothers me, but I'm worried dust is gonna go inside the screen...

My m11x works beautifully and wouldn't want to send it back just because of this...

Is the plastic glued around the bezel? maybe dust will enter the chassis but not actually reach the screen...I'm not sure how its built..

    What do you guys think?

    Heres a pic:

Cover it up with a sticker or something.

Dust and other particles eventually finds its way even through the smallest gaps.

Everytime you clean the monitor you will basically push some in to that little gap. I have the same thing and am awaiting a replacement machine.

My gap is larger though and I have the lower right side coming off as well.

I just dont understand why they put the cheesy piece of plastic there in the first place. The screen reflections would not be as bad if they had just not put it there to begin with. In fact if they has just applied a scratch resistance semi-matte finish the screen would be plain awesome.

Yeah, I dont mind it too much, assuming they are replacing it with one that is truley flush, but a matte screen to me, would have been a better move than even a faster CPU in this thing.

looking at it more carefully...looks like even with the gap its really hard for dust to get in....there seems to be some sort of layer where the plastic sits on the LCD frame, and it goes all around.

I even took a can of compressed air and blew directly into the gap and didnt see anything going into the LCD...

Hmmm, mine came with something stuck inbetween the cover and screen. It's at the top and about 1/8th inch down. I'd say it blocks like 5 or more pixels. Saw it when I first opened the lid. Tried to rub it off but then noticed it was under the screen. =( Gonna call in and see what they say.

the plastic and the screen cannot be separated. they are adhered together and the only dust that will ever be behind it was already there.

Well for some of us they seperate on their own and have gaps, so, I'm not sure what you mean. Maybe yours came out perfect.

No I think its just that they didnt handle it in a clean room or something. I've got 2 m11x's. one with the gap and one without one. When taking a flashlight and shining it directly at the LCD I can see that both have several tiny dust specs everywhere, even little stains which are unnoticeable when the LCD is on anyways.

I think that shadow is talking about a layer of sticky foam that goes all around the edge of the lcd, which is what I talked about earlier. Even if theres a gap and dust gets in, it will stay inside the case but not go into the actual LCD.

We'll just wait and see... if further down the road dust gets in I'll call Dell, right now I won't risk some noob tech handling my perfectly working computer.

Yeah mine was perfect, but now the bit of textured plastic the is connected to the top of the screen is starting to separate a bit on the right side... enough so I can see how it clips in... If I press it against the screen it goes away, but once I let go it is still slightly separated... Almost like the clips aren't holding as well as the should, or the epoxy is a little weak... It's to the right of the webcam right by the upslope of the screen...

So it's not like the screen is separating, but the outer plastic casing is separating from the screen.

I have the same thing but to me it isn't a huge deal and I'd rather get everything all fixed when there is actually something wrong.

I noticed there is alittle silver looking circle to the very right of the screen, not on the actual led but definately looks attached to the plastic screen or foam. I only noticed it today during class.

Anyonen else see the same thing?

It looks like a silver semicircle to the very right of the screen in the middle.

I am wondering if its a defect or is it normal.
