My psychiatrist (it's for ADD :p not manic depression I promise) is one of those "gotta have the best computer ever" types and frequently buys new laptops and desktops that are better and bigger (and very expensive). He is giving me one of his older ones for free but tells me that it overheats and I can keep it if I can fix it. I want to do a little research on the laptop first so that I know what I'm doing when I tweak it to my liking. I will be unable to see the laptop for at least two more weeks because he's away. I'm hoping you guys can help me out here in identifying this laptop.

This is what I know about it:

[IMG] It looks like this, with the speakers on the top part under the LCD. As far as the keyboard, my memory is failing me.

[IMG] The top of it looks like a little bit like this, with the rubber? things on the sides and the alien who's eyes glow depending on if it's plugged in or not.

The battery is a bit large and is inserted into the laptop through a slot in the right front side of the laptop.

The laptop has a ATI Radeon Mobility 9600 graphics card. I am fairly certain that this card was the one that originally came with the laptop.

The screen resolution is 1650x1050 (I might be off by a little in this case).

It's definitely an Alienware but im not sure what exact type it is, because it is a bit old. It's still a GREAT computer to be free! :D

Oh dammit my friend had that computer awhile ago (yes I know I have 2 friends with AW's *one has 1 and the other has 2*). It has a FX5700 in it I think or something like that.

Haha... hmm I'll look it up for you got my GPU wrong

    Got it... Alienware 766

To get it I just went to the support in AW's site, found the GPU, and saw that it was for the 766 :)
