MSI has 3k laptops on launch and ready for pre order/order, And they are an acceptable manufacturer not a premium one, Why hasn't alienware got these new displays available?

Why can't i order 780ms on the 17 in australia?
Why is there still no 120hz display on the 17 in australia?
Why is australian order options always so DAMNED MINISCULE compared to americans, It's not hard to provide the same parts list for every country.

I want to spend money but honestly i am getting dissapointed every time.

My m17x r3 was worth every penny but i am having doubts on ordering the new ones when dell/AW is specificly limiting what i can get like they did when i bought the R3, Not to mention overpricing in comparison to the rest of the countries.

C'mon guys give me something to go with here.

Regional supply and demand. Try eBay, there are tons of computers on there.

I feel bad for those of you living in Australia, you guys get screwed on most everything that has a battery or power cord.

if you want a 3K laptop with a gaming GPU the MSI is the only option as far as I know. There's nothing wrong with the MSI, don't feel bad for purchasing one if that's the laptop that best suits your needs.

Alienware don't make a 15.6" machine and those panels only come in 15.6".

Australians get screwed on pretty much everything thats imported because their government has instituted arbitrarily high tariffs on so many things, an unlike the US, Australia simply doesn't have the population of infrastructure potential needed to manufacture goods on the scale they consume them. Also, even though most downloadable software (and even physical software) like steam games are exempt from tariffs, companies still charge ridiculous premiums because they can. For instance, its actually cheaper for an Aussie who wants The Adobe Creative Suite Master 6 Collection to fly to America, buy it here, and fly back than to buy a copy in Australia.

It's everywhere mate, ordering options are very limited for current aw lineup. It's same for us or Indian or uk site.

There are 2 aw17's on dell website with 780m, so I am confused how you can't get them?

It also happens in Costa Rica, our import taxes are extremely high and the international couriers would charge you a lot of money to bring things down from the US due to it's weight.

At least they are sold in your country (they aren't sold here). Even though they have less options. This is because of demand and availability of the parts on your region. You could try submitting your thoughts to ideastorm.com. You need to get a lot of votes to get your idea going, they'll review and decide if it's viable to get all the business to your country. That's the best thing you can do.

Haven't seen a GTX780 for sale in any Alienware 17 configuration in Malaysia either. All they have is the GTX770 and the price is still ridiculously high. No Alienware 18 for sale either.

To answer some of your questions. I feel that 3K on a laptop is just plain ridiculous as there is not much consumer media out that supports such high resolutions anyway. Added to that, even desktop cards struggle to display games at 3K and slapping a screen like that onto a notebook is just not worth is as you will have to drop the resolution to a much lower state to play games smoothly. Added to that, the toll on battery life is a concern too.

On a brighter note, it's nice to have that huge screen real estate though. I'm afraid that I wouldn't be the best person to buy a screen that high in a resolution with my poor eyes. It may make picture editing a dream though.
