    Well...
I've been around for quite some time now... Since January (when I first got a XPS M1530 that I finally sent back), I've been flirting the M15x and was really decided to get myself one.
But with all the problems people had and are having, with the bad build quality and the overpriced equipment... I really don't think I can cope with spending so much money to get the M15x.
The reason I wanted to have the M15x was mainly the power on a 15.4'' format.
So the question is... do you guys have any suggestions on what 15.4'' laptops (that are in the market NOW) to get that will give you gaming power? (to my knowledge, at the present, there is no other 15.4'' with the 8800GTX... )

Thank you all and take care,
    M

I know... but what about now?
The next 15.4'' Laptop I'm aware of (in terms of power) is the XPS M1530. And even though I really liked the laptop, it's not AMAZING for playing recent titles (although it played everything I tested).

Nothing now. Wait like 2 or 3 months for the m860tu, the equivalent in terms of power. If you can't wait, there's nothing with the same graphics card/form factor combination.

well it is kinda hard to find other 15.4 inch that have a higher graphics. Since mostly only has the 8600GT 512mb ddr2 and 256mb ddr3 or the 9500GS 512mb ddr2...

there is still the 17 inch, sager np5793 which has also has the exact spec as m15x but with lesser problem... though its 17inch.. it isnt THAT heavy ...

Thats a really good question and I see it the same way, there is the m15x and then there is looooong time nothing and then it continues with the m1530 with about half the power... But sadly the m15x isn't the optimal solution either, only the clevo might be one, in about three month, when it might be available though... And furthermore it has no smartbay and not such a decent design...

For me, yes absolutely, there is no way I will ever buy such a huge big thing like a 17" book again! But I want performance for recent games, battery life longer than an hour and a decent design also... So there sadly is only the m15xway or the highway ^^

Yeah, the only 15" laptops that will probably ever have the 8800M are the m15x and the clevo, so it's either one or the other

Don't sell the m15x short... i know the clevo will be comming out soon, but will it have integrated and dedicated graphics? Will it have smartbay? If not expect around 1.5 hrs of battery life at best.

Despite the largish size, true portability and flexibility is the m15x's biggest strength. IMO smartbay is a vastly underrated selling point for the computer... an extra battery makes it truly portable and an extra HDD makes it more like a desktop.

If you can stomach the hit in performance, you can go totally in the opposite direction by looking at the LG p300: a 13.3" lappy with an 8600!!! So similar performance as the 1530 but in a smaller form factor.

I do want portability... I never really thought of buying a 17'' laptop, as I do think it's too big. If I want suck a big laptop, I would buy a desktop. But that's just my personal taste...
I did love the M1530 design, and I do miss it now and then. But knowing that there's the raw power of the M15x out there (that would quench my desire for gaming so much better), makes it impossible for me to feel fully satisfied with anything less than the 8800GTX.
    It's a hard decision, really...
Anyway, any ideas, suggestions, etc are more than welcome.

Agree with you... but I really think that 13.3'' is not gaming orientated at all. 15.4'' is really the limit, I would say. The M1330 also delivers quite similar GPU power as the M1530.
I just want something that is a step ahead! And regarding battery life... I NEVER game on battery, so I think that's really not a big point. Just buy an additional battery, you'll have 2 hours (or more) with each, and voilá...
But, of course, the Smartbay is a very interesting idea. But in the end... The bads are simply more than the goods! :( And trust me... I have been dreaming with the M15x very hardly... But I don't think it would be a wise decision to buy it, to be very honest.

yeah if you have doubts don't buy it. You'll be more angry in the end if things go bad.

the np5793 is actually only slightly larger than m15x. m15x will be bigger than you thought.

Right NOW, there is no other 15.4" notebook on the market that offers the 8800.

Basically there are 2 choices for you right now:

    1. Wait for the clevo 15"

    2. m15X - I suggest you don't buy this if you are having that many worries about it. You may not be happy and then have to return it.
